Yeah that's what I'm saying, that is basically her gameplan lol. Come forward and throw punches. That style got Katie Taylor hurt and stumbling in the last fight
I don't know what the hell she was doing tonight. Trying to be bodiqua Pernell Whitaker or something
That's not what got Taylor hurt in the last two fights.
In the first fight her trainer (Ross Enamait) asked her to trade in the mid to early rounds (Taylor at that point was the bigger fighter on paper, Serrano had moved up, they wanted to get her out of there early). This wasn't only a shock to aficionados (considering Taylors ring generalship, skill and experience), it was also the entirely wrong instructions, Enamait I'm sure would happily admit this in retrospect. They underestimated Serranos power and resilience completely.
The second fight Taylor got sucked in to wanting to bang, just like many greats do (Crawford, Bivol, Inoue) etc. This is the Hail Mary a fighter like Serrano needs to hang.
Serrano is on ice skates, at all times, as
@TheNig deftly pointed out in this thread, Serrano can't cut a ring off to save herself, nor pivot, nor slip. So if you know how to move around a ring backwards, can pop shots like Taylor, and get off the ropes without getting caught, then an opponent like this is pretty straight forward.
This should have been the way from fight 1. Easy work if you can defend and remain focused, but only exceptionally conditioned fighters can do it for a whole fight.
