They really dropped the ball with Omega since his big IC title win

Probably because they realized he's never going to be more than a comedy dude, much like the Young Bucks. The Omega push at the start of the year was a knee jerk reaction to do SOMETHING to make up for Nak/AJ leaving. Obviously did not work and they didn't stick with it, either.

HOLY shyt. Marifuji was allowed not only to kick Okada in the face thirty times, and get bigger pops, but also got a W too.

What a start to the G1!!!

My three must watch matches:

Ishii/Tenzan
Sanada/Tana
Okada/Marifuji

I'm throwing reactions to results in spoilers, out of courtesy.

One of the big questions I had for this year's G1: with so much talent gone...could NJPW still deliver?

The answer is yes. I'm hooked yet again.

high chance we get another Tana/Okada match in the semi finals :francis: That match has happened way too many times.

Would be cool if we got an Okada/Shibata final but chances are slim :mjcry:

Gedo and his predictable ass booking

Almost as if Gedo is the most predictable and lazy booker going right now

Yeah, it's as if we've been seeing the same shyt with no progression for 4 years :jbhmm:

To be fair though, the G-1 is normally really predictable and Day 1 upsets are as old as the tourney itself.
