This may be a stupidly stupid question...

But is DR also impacted when all these Haiti quakes happen? Why does it seem like it only impacts Haiti?

I'm not suggesting any bias or any conspiracy, i'm just genuinely curious if the epicenter is always on the Haitian side
Infrastructure perhaps. I don’t think many buildings if any are built to withstand earthquakes.

fault line runs on the Haiti side. Haiti will basically need Japan level infrastructure to stop these type of deaths from happening every time there's an earthquake

Above the fray.
From 2020

"I'm afraid another big earthquake will produce the same results, because we have not learned"

Historically a poorly managed and run country. Last year marked 10 years since the 2010 Quake. Miami Herald ran a series of stories about the survivors, those who migrated, and the country. Not a single change in creating or enforcing codes for construction. Even along fault lines.

To be Haitian means to being left to fend for yourself, because the leadership of your country doesn't give a fukk about you.
Creates a resilient and resourceful group of people, though.

The quake impact (center of the earthquake) has been on Haiti's side because the fault lines lie there.
