Yeah, that article about the WWE did mention the TNA stable too.

I think they felt some kinda way about that article and didn't want to seem like they weren't doing anything with their black male wrestlers. Then they saw the article mention TNA's stable and they was . There might have been plans to do something with Xavier, Big E and Kofi in the future but that article for sure made them do it sooner.
