WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - Seven people have been shot in a mass shooting at 7th and Kidder Streets in Wilmington. N.C, according to Wilmington Police Chief Donny Williams.

The shootings happened at 718 Kidder St. around midnight. Williams says they do not yet have a suspect or motive for the shooting.

“There was a house party that was taking place inside of a house,” Williams said. “At least seven people inside were shot and three are deceased. They are not being identified until the next of kin has been notified.”

The four injured are being treated at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The names of the victims are not yet being released as police work to notify family members of the shooting.

“In my more than two decades as a prosecutor this is one of the worst crimes we have ever had in the Port City,” said district attorney Ben David. “The community’s unimaginable grief must be met with an equal commitment to get justice for all of the victims in this case.”

Complete opposite of what I’ve always heard when locals talk about Wilmington they put it on par with the ratchetness of Laurinburg or Lumberton. They’re always saying it’s just a small broke dead-end trap. And kinda rough. And I hear that about New Bern and Myrtle Beach too. Especially new Bern. But I can’t personally speak for any of it as I’ve never been to any of those 3 spots.

One of my ex’s from there...I spent a little time, chilled wit some real nikkas, clubbed a bit, shyt was laid back....and she and they said shyt be laid back and they was in the streets there....but this was YEARS ago, but I never heard much about Wilmington with a lot of mass shootings or shootouts since then fr, not that there haven’t been, just not to my knowledge.



my sis lived in new bern, heard racism is their deal...don’t know about the other areas tho. But Wilmington was a a1 lay low kick back spot when I was there.

Every city has it's bad spots and it's chill spots, but I will say this. I willingly go to Wilmington and will go to New Bern if I have too, but Lumberton (Robeson county) is a NO GO.
