I clowned the same way when I first heard. I was like New Bern AVENUE? In RALEIGH?

But no, they were referring to New Bern the little town out near the outer banks that I always pictured was just a beach town or something. Apparently, like most small Eastern NC towns, it’s dusty and ratchet when you peel back the tourism layers.

Just like myrtle beach, and wilmington, and Miami Fl. Pretty on the outside and the ocean is within spitting distance, but horrible on the inside.

Arguably the two roughest places in all of NC. Yikes breh. Kinston is the type of town I will never have a reason to step foot in so long as I can help it. There’s just literally nothing but trouble, frustration, broke people, and shootings there. And I’m not even going to get started on Durham. I feel way more safe here in Charlotte than I’ve ever felt in the Bull city. Durham is just, demonic


But no I’m not from here just been living here most of my adult life. I came here originally for college and to be closer to fam, and I just stayed. Most of my years were split between Raleigh and Durham. But I’ve got a few years in a few Eastern NC towns too.

Yeah that was here in Charlotte smh. It was Christmas Eve 2020 and two teen girls got killed. I think like 6 ppl total got shot but they were both hit in the head.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Two teenagers have died and at least three other individuals were injured following a shooting late Christmas Eve in southeast Charlotte.

The incident was reported on Olde Savannah Road off of Albemarle Road. Medic reported at least five people suffered injuries in the incident. CMPD later tweeted that one person had died. Another victim died at the hospital.

The deceased were identified as Katherine Roxana Lopez Cruz, 16, and Michelle Avila Robles, 13.

Complete opposite of what I’ve always heard when locals talk about Wilmington they put it on par with the ratchetness of Laurinburg or Lumberton. They’re always saying it’s just a small broke dead-end trap. And kinda rough. And I hear that about New Bern and Myrtle Beach too. Especially new Bern. But I can’t personally speak for any of it as I’ve never been to any of those 3 spots.
