What's your problem...

Again, black parents definitely can take better care of themselves in our community: From my personal experience (i.e. the elders in my immediate & distant family, parents of friends, etc.) and observations throughout the years observing eating poor habits (i.e. soul food - greasy, starchy, sugary etc × lack of exercise x stressors) many black parents can stand to follow suit.
There's no denying that the expectations are there to be taken care of as they age. They can stand to implement some healthy practices into their lives for optimal health.

[This is a personal pet peeve of mine and I make sure to let my mom know it w/every request for a cheeseburger or bbq (pork) rib sandwich w/a pepsi while sitting in the couch watching tv. Her attitude is 'I don't want to be a burden to you kids; put me in a nursing home' all the while knowing that we'd never do it. However, seeing her take better care of her health lessens resentment & frustration.]

Off on a tangent but in the same vein - Many black kids are behind the curve/at a disadvantage from birth, expected to leave home at 18 y/o and are left with no inheritance (but instead with debt & additional expenses) in many instances. In these scenarios, caring for aging & ailing parents in addition to making a living. Health is wealth.
