you have to develop for both ios and android both of which have their own languages and rules.
you have to get the apps approved by both stores which can range from easy to difficult depending on what your app is about.
lastly, you have to test for bugs and some bugs will only reveal themselves after having actual people testing them.
the salaries of the developers range from 50-100k with the better ones being in the upper tier.
