The movie alien came out in 1979 and it had one of the strongest female lead I’ve seen on film. She had no superpowers, strength, or martial arts. She was a military officer who was scared as shyt but kept it together to come up with ideas to get rid of the alien.

I imagine this would only be apparent in action films since they're all about hard power no?
You can see it even in big blockbusters like star wars, where the female lead is written in such a way that you can replace her with a man and not miss a beat.

Or that ghost busters movie where they just casted a bunch of females for roles in a series that's largely marketed towards boys.

Or that new terminator movie, where they kill off an established main character and replace him with a girl who acts just like him and takes over his role in the movie, only it's not believable because she's damn near a midget.

It's the laziest way possible to write strong female characters.

Ah. I guess the question is why would they do this instead of just making the character a man? I also thought women liked Rey and man-babies hated her.

you can't make this stuff up. I don't even mean for this to be a men vs women type of thread, but I want to make this one point:

if this don't show u that women truly don't know what they want, then I don't know what to tell u

that's not saying anything negative about them, just saying the truth of women's nature. They don't know what they want

won't post the full thing here cause of "hoe babble" but you can read it here:

Brit Marling Has Had Enough of Hollywood’s Idea of a ‘Strong Female Lead’
Valid point
Most strong females are just doing masculine things.

Perfect example of how to properly write a strong female character. I'll add sarah connor from T2 to the mix also.

Hollywood today would have Ripley suplexing the aliens and beating their ass barehanded while the men ran around like bumbling fools.

You can’t write a strong female lead for an action movie. Without it being called sexist by feminist.
A woman greatest power is her sexuality or using manipulative shyt to get what she wants

Your personal life must suck. Who hurt you?

You can’t have a strong woman without a male lead. And a lot of feminist don’t want to admit that a woman plays sidekick better than lead
