they never had any business in the Big 10. The ONLY reason why Rutgers is in the Big 10 is because the Big 10 foolishly believed the NY metropolitan area gives a fukk about college football, let alone Rutgers.
It's not just Rutgers though. Look at Boston College. They ain't shyt anymore either since conferences pillaged the Big East for the markets.

Rutgers ( New Brunswick) is the flagship university of the Rutgers college system in New Jersey.
They use to be in the big east, but they thought the would have a bigger impact and more resources in the Big 10
.It's alot easier to look good against west Virginia and Uconn than it is Wisconsin, THE Ohio State, and Michigan.
