Not understanding the hate in this thread, I thoroughly enjoyed watching Ward tonight.

Feel like Ward was using this fight to gauge his power, strength and inside work. He doesn't have KO power, but some of those shots landed were nasty dunno why he's shy about throwing the right hand though? Dude looked big last night. Inside game is good as always, just no KO.

Eurodemon is not as big as I thought. They looked to be about the same size.

I had no desire to pick apart your post, but here goes.

Ward moved up to 175 as a "fresh" 31 year old, which was in 2015. His last fight was 2 years prior to that. I do not consider age to be relevant in this case.

Floyd moved up multiple weight classes to get to 147. Ward only moved up one weight class.

Timothy Bradley's tuneup at 147 was a guy name Luis Abregu, a guy that is significantly better than Brand. It was a very tough & ugly fight. Bradley immediately went back to 140 where he did have a bigger fight waiting.

We all know how Ward fights. He is not a KO guy. We get it. I think the issue here is that Brand was so awful that he shoulda got him out of there. Make the guy quit on his stool. Make the ref stop the fight. This nygga Brand was awful. If Ward can stop Paul Smith, another lower tier fighter, he should be able to stop Brand.

Ward & Mayweather has always been a dumb comparison. My initial post was more so directed at the people who compare them.

Have you been vocal about the fights HBO has been putting on this year? If you haven't and found ward-brand palatable then it's whatever . If you have and for some reason condone THIS fight then you're playing yourself. The card the other week that was on HBO latino with Diaz and Orozco was way better and should have got the spot ward-brand got instead of being buried on there.

You complaining about Ward vs Brand, but oddly found nothing to complain about when it was Russell vs Hyland main eventing Showtime from the YMCA gymnasium in just as bad of a matchup

Sullivan Berrera not bad solid Cuban dude who tried to fight who was just overmatched. THIS fight....come on now. They should have rejected this awful opponent made him fight a live body and pushed the PPV to March for recovery and buzz building.

It is PPV 100% as far as substance and quality but damn the shine and buzz is down something serious....that can fight last night killed me.

They better have a red carpet treatment all over NBA, baseball playoffs, college gameday, NFL (maybe Ward can be in the booth for a game or a drop in visit). This just sucked last night. This ain't Cotto or Canelo who could show up on Univision or Telemundo or a parade. This fight reeks of no buzz.

So, you need a fight pitting 2 undefeated prime elite pound for pound Boxers in Andre Ward (the #4 P4P fighter) against Sergey Kovalev (the #2 P4P fighter as well as IBF/WBA/WBO Light Heavyweight Champion) to "reek of buzz" in order to be excited about it or be willing to pay for it?

People are happy about these tuneups for what happens if Ward have got injured versus that tomato can last night? What if he popped his shoulder out of socket or tore his Achilles tendon obviously injuries can happen anytime but the risk against the fighter of that caliber who may be because he was out of the fight go for a dirty trick and got Ward seriously hurt. That's why you have to make the fight when they are available to make them.

What if Canelo in the fall suffers a serious injury like breaking his hand or something and he's out for 8 to 10 months? Against Liam Smith? Remember Gamboa vs Lopez and what happened there?!?

Fans need to stop acting like promoters and defending things like this.

Let's complain about SOG facing a Top 10 opponent for the belt he will be shooting for in November, conveniently leave out the fact that Erik Skoglund was supposed to be the opp & Brand stepped up in his place in a fight HBO made Ward take a huge paycut to do bc they didn't have the budget available for it, then get mad when a NON-Knockout Artist at a lower weight doesn't KO a guy who's never been KO'd before

Considering the original fight plan Was on the OG card of Thurman vs Porter...a card which I had tickets too and it wasn't a standalone....why would I ?

And the original fight plan was Andre Ward vs Erik Skoglund until he backed out, and Brand accepted to fight a little over 4 weeks notice.

Russell vs Hyland was just as big of a mismatch, main evented it's own card (they didn't upgrade Russell's opponent), and you didn't complain about it, bc you like GRJ....so you should expect the same of fans of SOG

Getting blessed with an opportunity to watch SOG exhibit GAWD tier boxing abilities on a slow Saturday night was great for me...however, YOU watched the fight just as I did, which means you contributed to the ratings just as I did, but yet you're mad about supporting it while I'm about watching another SOG dominant performance against another Top 10 opponent
