i feel sorry for that man. recieving that kind of money at that age is nothing but a tragedy. his whole life he probably, like all of us, chased paper. tried to move up in the world. make more each paycheck. dude was a principle so you know he put in work...and yet here he is, 80 years old, with more money than he's ever imagined having his whole life. if he could cash that check for 80 more years of time im sure he would.

cherish every day brehs...cause unlike money, time is limited:whoo:

Its always mfs who not gone live long enuf to enjoy the money who wins *fights air*
exactly. you know what. it just hit me. its a conspiracy from the States that host these lotteries. They know These old heads wont live but so long. meaning they will never have time to burn thru the money so this will happen: if the winner takes it as an installment. then when he/she dies the rest goes back to the state. which is why most take the lump sum. but even if old heads have family. they might not give it all away. so what happens to the rest if you never set up the proper system to give everything to another person(s). or some establishment like "the church" These old heads will still end up giving that remainder back to the state.

A retired elementary school principal from Sullivan County was the sole winner of a $326 million Mega Millions jackpot drawn on Nov. 4, according to the New York Lottery.

On Monday, the Lottery's Yolanda Vega presented a ceremonial check to Harold Diamond, 80, of Wurtsboro, at the Valero gas station in Middletown where he purchased his ticket.

"My wife and I were driving to Middletown for dinner after voting on Election Day but the weather made us rethink our plans," Diamond said, according to a press release from the Lottery. "My wife insisted we stop here to eat and wait for the weather to clear, and I reluctantly agreed."

Diamond said he noticed the Mega Millions jackpot flashing on the Lottery terminal as he ate at the Subway shop within the Valero and decided to spend $10 for 10 sets of Quick Pick numbers for that evening's drawing.

"I put the ticket in my wallet and forgot about it," he said. "I went to play golf the next day and the guys in the clubhouse were talking about the jackpot-winning ticket someone bought at a Valero on Route 302 and I thought, wait a minute – I bought a ticket there last night!"

When he realized he had won, "I was in a dither, a real daze," he said.

The winning numbers were 9 15 24 39 41 and Mega Ball 01.

Diamond worked for 39 years in the Monticello School District and was principal at George L. Cook Elementary before he retired in 1995. Carol Diamond is a 36-year veteran of the Goshen School District where she taught math at Goshen High School before retiring in 1994.

Diamond opted to take the cash value, a single lump sum payment totaling $197,456,087. His net check will total $130,676,438 after withholdings. He said his plans for the money include helping family and "giving back to the local community."

In 2011, "The Albany 7," a group of state employees from the Capital Region, split a $319 million jackpot.

Why is always old people who win it? :beli:

Why? :mjcry:
Maybe theyve figured out who the players are from previous less winning tickets. They always play the same set of numbers erry week. Ive been watching how old ppl play the lottery n taking notes. Hardly ever quickpick numbers win ion think i could b wrong.

Edit: it was a quickpick :webbay:
