As a youth Larry Bird was like a Jedi mind trick. How could a dude so swagless and corny, style on the Black players of my youth, like Otis Birdsong. We respected Bird but we ain't like him.

Best thing about that play was the bounce pass from Henderson...Bird made that doofy ass layup, yes, but if that had been Dominique? Tomahawk City.

Hell
I remember being in NY in 91 and every nikka had on a Celtics jacket, bird was respected a good deal. I want much into ball until bulls won their first title in 91 so I can't speak on the 80s.

When I came back to Florida in 93 Celtics and Lakers, knick bulls starter jackets everywhere. Celtics were king in NY amoung the young nikkas back in the day. nikkas had the Gluck and green with the brown ankle timbs

Native of the NYC, getting fed in the Big D!
Nah dog you definitely wrong on this...

I was in my teens in the 80's and spent a lot of time in Harlem vising family...I do not recall anybody rocking Celtic gear like you claiming...Maybe one or two cats here and there but definitely not "MAD"...

I can't speak on the BX but nikkas in Yankee town rocking Boston squad gear doesn't sound plausible...Don't nobody even do that now except for Dominican birds...
I grew up some in Jamaica, Queens after moving from Brooklyn around that time and never saw brothas rocking no Celtics gear.
:wtf: It was damn near sacrilegious to be caught wearing anything Boston back then. Maybe that happened in the city with some brothas sprinkled here and there but 9 times outta 10 it was a white guy/girl macked out in that Celtics merch to my recollection.

And you are a hypocrite.

Oh well
What's hypocritical?

You arguing my thought process at 11 years old? :mindblown:

The NBA blew up in the 80s along the lines of race with Bird being White as many Celtic players and black Lakers.

The ENTIRE COUNTRY saw it like that dikkweed

Being against racism yet being a racist yourself is comedy.
Again you clown...the entire NBA blew up in the 80s based off this racial dynamic.

You're giving me WAY too much credit. You so BADLY want to dress me up as a racist because I point out racists like yourself. You're mad

If you liked basketball you had to respect Larry. Jordan-esque obsession wit the game, a complete focus on destroying his opponents, skills for days...what's not to like?

I'm a 70s baby raised in the 80s :hula:

He was my favorite player
I hate the Lakers too. Tragic Magic in 84 is a top 10 moment in my life
Bird owning Moses and Dr J were great times too
Round 87-88, Zeke became my favorite player. Bird stealing that ball made me conflicted :francis:
Pistons should've 4-peated :mjcry:
