They are underground, i don’t think they have a platinum record, perhaps gold, ( off the top of my head, so don’t come for me if I’m wrong) but they platinum in the hood/south, most folks know them but they will never enjoy commercial success

8Ball & MJG were underrated as a duo.

MJG is also a criminally underrated lyricist.

They didn't have the hits of UGK, but I thought both duos were right there neck and neck especially around the time Ball and G were with Suave House and Tony Draper.

UGK was relatively underrated to until their Riding Dirty album. Pimp was an underrated producer too. That album was the reason UGK started getting love outside of 3rd Coast. About a year and a half or so later they got on that Big Pimpin' feature with Jay-Z and were white hot.

Pimp ended up getting locked up on a parole violation a year or two later and that effectively killed their buzz until they dropped that Underground Kingz album and that single that featured OutKast.

That feature should have happened years earlier. OutKast was giving UGK shoutouts and shyt on their Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik album back in like '94, so it was a apparent a budding relationship was there and they were acquainted with one another.

UGK was getting ready to take off again then Pimp passed away.

Look here fam, I love Ball and G and I still have most of the Suave House cd collection but................ I cannot agree with this thread title as I need to pass the trophy to UGK. Pimp was legend by himself with his ability to sing, play keys, and produce, add Bun B's ability to lyrically black out and it's over. Peeps didn't really fukk with Too Hard and SuperTight like that when it dropped, I know because I worked at a record store when they came out. These 2 were straight street heat then Ridin Dirty dropped. I cannot not think of one 8Ball and MJG track that hits me like these.....

Coldest, funkiest Outro ever. Music starts at 1:18

Now you wanna talk about underrated from the Suave house, let's talk about South Circle, Thorough and Mr. Mike, Another Day Another Balla was straight lyrical heat from start to finish with top notch production

My fav

8Ball and Tela on the joint

Naw breh, ask anyone with even a passing interest in hip hop and ugk will be one of their favorite groups. especially since Pimp died...bless his soul.

You hardly ever hear Ball and you especially never hear the gawd MJG get the credit they deserve.
