And the Pentagon footage is sketchy as fukk. You trying to tell me that is the ONLY video? :beli:
What is with this silly ass argument? Nobody was expecting the pentagon to get hit, meaning nobody had cameras out watching it.

That's why we have so many angles of the second tower getting hit compared to the Pentagon or the first tower, because people already had their cameras out after the first one. There is only ONE existing footage of the first plane hitting because the guy happened to be filming a FDNY documentary a couple blocks away. If it weren't for that, we'd only have the still frame shyt similar to the Pentagon (and that in itself only existed because a Museum camera programmed to capture lower Manhattan throughout the day.).

This isn't fair. They didn't know the plane was going to be crashed into a building, they thought it was a hostage/ransom situation. No one in 2001 would have just thought "they're gonna crash this into a building, obviously." The logical assumption would have been a hijacking similar to countless movies or tv shows. No one on the first flight fought back. Phone records from the second crash show that the passengers were discussing how to fight back but we don't know if they did or not. Remember with both planes, the terrorists sent messages to air control - which were heard overhead by passengers - that they were going back to the airport.

United 93's crew heard about the crash, and the entire plane fought back and managed to crash it before it hit its target.
I’m not blaming the passengers on the planes that hit WTC. Nobody knew what was going on until the second plane hit, when a lot of ppl realized that we’re probably under attack. The folks on U93 figured they were on one of the hijacked planes and fought back.

Feels like all of the east coast was bright sunny day

I’ll probably never forgot that day
I remember what I wore to school, what I ate for breakfast etc
I was in 4th grade and lived in Rockland County, NY. This was the second week of school, and our principal came in the class looking DEAD serious and asked if any of our parents worked in NYC. Then when I come home from school my dad is actually home early and glued to the TV

Even being 5 years old at the time post 9/11 nyc was weird (flatbush), watching youtube videos of old news stories and tv ads brings a lot of deja vu.

bin laden did have a sick ass short term pla n to inflict damage...

and it was executed pretty good...

but I bet if he would have known how many muslim bodies were gonna drop in iraq/afghanistan afterwards...

he might have had second thoughts...

plus this shyt just strengthened the U.S. military with increased budget, increased intelligence and operational leeway, and currently the largest combat experienced personnel in the world

:francis:
A lot of ways that shyt accelerated what became the climate in America today and is still responsible for the way many here think.

Terrorists did plenty of psychological damage that day.

Breh his plan succeeded beyond his wildest.imagination. We spent trillions in Afghanistan, lost thousands of troops and will be dealing with the aftermath of the tens of thousands who came back mentally/physically damaged for the next 50 years. And after all that, the Taliban is right back in control.

Afghanistan led to Iraq, where we again spent trillions, lost thousands and now have an entire generation of veterans with all kinds of mental/physical issues. And now the biggest power broker in Iraq is Iran.

Both of these wars hurt our standing in the world. Both of them caused trillions and trillions in extra costs for all Americans (gas prices etc). And the trillions we spent can be connected directly to economic disasters like the great recession, our broken health care system and lack of adequate safety net.

The psychological damage that the US reaction did to Muslim countries/people was a thousand times worse...

Overall 9/11 was a failure for Bin Ladens goals and the Muslim world

The Abyss
There's a thread from an old internet forum I was reading earlier this year that was like 100 pages long of people commenting about 9/11 as it happened. It was so surreal seeing an infant message board from 2001 discuss these events as they were going on.

I remember everybody on there was trying to log in to CNNs web page but it was down due to the overwhelming traffic of people trying to figure out wtf was going on.

There was this lady who had a husband working in the WTC and she was posting updates as she was talking to him. He made it out cause he worked on the lower floors. She said they initially thought it was a bomb. It wasn't until some time later when he found out it was a fukking airliner.

Reading that forum is like going back in time. I'ma post it if I can find it again.

I remember the 1st comment was something like "don't know how true this is, but I'm reading on aol news that there was a supposed bomb that went off in one of the wtc? Any NYers can verify this"?

Crazy

The way they talk like we got ran out of Vietnam to this day, this will pretty much be the same thing.

Our response lead to a black eye for the nation and we're still paying for that shyt both financially and psychologically.

In 2022 there's some tax dollars coming out your paycheck that gets spent because of 9/11. That would not have been the case before that event.

That's a massive L.

The U.S. shot down Flight 93.
Maybe somebody yelled out "Let's roll!" but that shyt caught a missile.
You can heat the terrorists talking like they were intentionally crashing it. Cheney thought his shootdown order was executed but it wasnt.
