Did you not see Ortiz get dropped by Charles Martin? :mjlol:
ortiz, until he wilder'ed himself to a win by countering martin's lazy jab (which several ppl saw that it was going to happen including myself, was looking trash and unsteady...ruiz getting dropped by arreola wasn't a good look either but ruiz wasn't shaky before or after that round

Nah, just saw the highlights then, i missed that washy affair.

Damn, Scientist Ortiz (for all his susceptibilities to straight right counters) seems to be a faded memory. Was leaning and telegraphing with every jab.

I don't rate Ruiz all that much compared to a lot of people, but if he can catch or slip the jab and return with his lead hook it's an easy days work for Ruiz based off that last Ortiz outing. Maybe he was rusty?

I'm still tempted by those Ortiz odds though. Ruiz at $1.15 is lunacy.

your stars are but dust on my shoes
They got to be joking. How much will this sell?
Can't find any information about the purses but I wonder what the economics are for this PPVs no one cares about

The way I've come to understand it is that these fighters are expecting inflated purses, so PBC sells them on the idea that the PPV revenue can be extremely lucrative for them.

Desperate to fight and make money, these guys agree to lower guarantees with the hope they can draw on PPV.

it's the only way I can understand this being $75, and Ortiz Martin being PPV too.

My understanding is that PPVs are fronted by the promoter and then revenue split with the distributor and the fighters get a cut of the sales after the distributor get their cut
So with all that for these kinds of fights where it's no buzz it's possible for people to lose money, it almost makes sense for them just to fight on free tv and take whatever lil $350k or whatever they can guarantee. The example I'm thinking of is Jones vs Hopkins, how they lost money on that

The sad thing about the fight is that Jones won’t make anything. Let’s assume for a second that the 6,792 in the building actually paid for their seats (we know that’s not true) and that the seats averaged $300 a ticket (a figure higher than reality). That would mean the gate was $2 million. If the expenses to rent the building and promote the fight were $1 million, that means $1 million is left. Now, let’s figure it sold 100,000 pay-per-views at $49.95 apiece. That’s about $5 million. They have to split 50 percent of that with the cable and satellite operators, so that leaves $2.498 million for themselves. Add the $1 million from the gate and the $2.498 million from the pay-per-view and you have $3.498 million in profit. Given that the contract called for the first $3.5 million in profit to go to Hopkins and Golden Boy, it’s almost certain Jones fought for nothing. Actual revenue will likely be far less than I’ve described above.

Maybe I'm way off tho and they end up selling out the arena and selling 200k+ buys and making major money

PBC needs another platform besides FOX in 2023. Everybody in their stable including prospects all fight once or twice a year.
