Refraining from posting on message boards is a hard habit to kill.

I know of a good website blocker for firefox if you think you might be tempted. It's really a chore to get around it. Leechblock.

They have a similar one for chrome but you can just disable it by going into the apps, rendering it useless.

The choice to relapse must be available so that you can look your habit in the face, "I can do this "

Besides, I'm already in the process of coming up with a special placeholder avi. I'm already down to my top 3 choices.

So, I was looking at that 90 day no fap challenge thread, and all the difficulty some of the folks were having there. I decided to play along with their challenge, but I don't feel as miserable as they do. I just don't feel it.
Too easy. Not consuming.

So I started thinking.

What if I was to step away from posting on this forum for a period of 9 days? I've had many good and informative times, but, I mean, I am averaging over 20 posts per day, and I am pretty sure I've posted on here before during every possible hour.


It sounds like a good idea to me. I'm just wondering if anybody out there is willing to also try this challenge along with me? To go 9 straight days without logging in and also without lurking the board. Would anyone else who averages over 20 posts be willing to join me in this challenge? Would it be too much?


I'll be keeping a daily journal of my progress that I'll post when I return. I think I might start the fast on Sunday or Monday.

I woke up at 4 am today. Again. However, there was a full moon this morning shining right on me through the window. I stared at the celing and walls for about an hour before getting up to shower.
Afterwards, I opened a tab in tc, challenged Nonya Bee to some games of Ruzzle, and stepped away from the computer to eat breakfast. Got back on and read a story about a single mom kicked out of a tedx conference, so I posted the link a thread.
I noticed my previous sign in was last night at 7:45pm.
I did catch the new SouthPaw twerk video. The scenery choices are always interesting. As was the glitter this time.
I sign out after posting that at around 7:30 am. Zero hour.

I never realized how strong the urge is/was to check the site out in the mornings and especially in the evenings after dinner.

About halfway done now.

Of all the 9 days, this will probably be the hardest. I missed the Royal Rumble and will miss the Super Bowl, but I know a special kind of hilarity must be going down now and for the next hour in oft. The thought of that is truly crushing.

I never realized how much I miss the coli during those early morning insomnia sessions at 4 or 5 and in the evenings after dinner. I started hitting some of the books on my backlog and also yesterday, I managed to find an old handout that I took from a subway preacher months ago on the 2 or 3 train. An old white man who is always handing out printouts whenever I see him, I actually decided to pull one of those papers out and read it. The rambling words I read seemed very different from his pitches in the cars, at least from what I remember.

Well, I decided to abandon that no porn or fap challenge the last 2 days, browsing out of boredom and also to see what kind of “effects” it would do after that time. I don’t have access to that thread so I really don’t know how long it’s been, honestly, probably like 3 times in the past 3 months before this. And in this time, I managed to find the name of someone I had been looking for for a long time. So I tied up one loose end.

I also tied up another loose end as I was searching for an old scathing article about a gospel music workshop, referencing abusing believing church members out of their money and all the other usual stuff. I tried typing several different version of the title into google and the best links that I could get were a couple of dead links. I checked my email accounts for it, old flash drives, nothing. But I did manage to find that I saved a copy of it on my computer from 2010. Reposted below:
