This.

Like I don't really see this song mentioned much, but it is a classic:

Hip Hop Artist Ahmad Ali Lewis to Deliver Keynote Address at Long Beach City College Graduation Ceremony • Long Beach Post News

On the Dart Against Humanity podcast episode about 1995 year in Hip Hop music writer Dart Adams mentioned that the Ahmad album was good. I might check it out on Spotify some time

He is but you admitted this the other day

So I'm not taking this serious
U let the melodies distract you from the songwriting. Maybe if they spit some of their verses in a traditional delivery it would hit more for you. Maybe you should read their 16’s in your best Beanie Siegel voice. :mjlol:

They all can fall back and rap traditionally if needed. No way in hell Will outrapping Lil Baby either.

Also, didn’t Will have ghostwriters?

And yet they never do it. Songwriting is not exclusive to melodic delivery, and there's nothing special about songwriting today other than making sure songs are shorter to for replay. Reading a 16 from any of them doesn't impress me.

People have tried saying "Summertime" was ghostwritten but it hasn't really stuck, I don't know if any other records or writers attached to him. There's plenty of ways in Hell Will outraps Lil Baby.

They have songs they do it they just have no reason to do it often it’s outdated.

Their verses be having lyrical devices all that just rapped melodically or in a double time flow.

What’s an impressive Will verse?

A big myth/misconception/complaint that I hear about modern hiphop as opposed to 90s HipHop was the presence of simple songs with fad dances: 90s HipHop had plenty of those kinda songs.

I’ve always thought that was mainly an early 90’s thing since it seemed like a lotta rappers after 1993 were either too cool or too gangsta to dance on record anymore.

That's why when people mention the 90s and all they refer to is the albums, to me that's just HALF of the story... a lot of great albums no doubt but it's also the singles that kept the energy. Some had not-so-dope albums, but they still had songs that made impact. AND there are remixes that came out as the singles that were crazy, then you buy the album and it ain't same version from the video :mjlol:
Yeah a lot of songs would get the glossed up remix for the single with a popular sample and/or a bootleg Mary J. Blige on the hook :russ:

A cut that samples a song about dancin' that I actually threw on at a house party that had folks cuttin in real time being spit by a rapper talkin bout he DON'T dance in the song.

Gotta love the 90's mayne:mjcry:
