What I'm saying is, this is public knowledge and the people with their pitchforks out about R Kelly sexually abusing people dont care that HE was sexually abused.

I'm not saying he doesn't deserve punishment for his actions. I'm saying that if you're gonna frame yourself as being against sexual abuse, should you not go after EVERYONE? And not have your picks and chooses of who should be called out and who shouldn't?

Even if the statute of limitations is up, they could still shame her and ostracize her from society. they aren't even willing to mention that she exists.

It's been awhile since I watched Surviving R Kelly but they did talk about her being an abuser. They never showed her face though. She isn't a public figure like R Kelly was. We honestly don't know what her situation is. For all we know she could be ostracized by her community and live in recluse because of it. That's unfortunately the most we can do against not public figures when their crimes can't be punished in the court of law.

True, and at various points in the past, because of what I experienced, I've been one of those people who have expressed the appeal of it. but you're right. It needs to be stamped out all the way around.
tying sex to manhood as well as over valuing vagina is a reason there’s appeal to it.

a young boy being able to “pull” an attractive older woman, one who has men her age sweating her, sounds like a badge of honor. Not only is he accomplishing a feat his peers and older are trying to accomplish, but from a woman deemed desirable by men her age.

We must teach that you cannot become a man through sex, nor is every woman with a p*ssy worth anything. It’s a lesson I myself am trying to master, but it’s the only way.

Being a Gentleman
My honest thoughts on R Kelly are simple. Hurt ppl hurt people. I do think he was railroaded THIS time, but back at the time of the original pee tape, I honestly wanted him to go to prison back then. They had a good case on him, and if he hadn't dropped that damned good album Chocolate Factory, he probably would have been packed up back then.

But anyway, he's in jail for abusing women, when he himself is a victim of abuse. He and his brother Carey have both said that their sister was raping them when they were children.

I'm someone who was taken advantage of by an older woman as a preteen, so I sympathize with that part of it. Man, that stuff messes you up. It can either make you hypersexualized or it can make you retreat from women.

His sister has never denied the allegations, but all of these "protect black girls" folks pretend that she doesn't exist. I would have more respect for the people going after him if they were going after her too, but that's not what's happening. Everybody acknowledges that she raped him, but she is still walking around scott free living her life.

If she had never raped that brotha, more than likely he never would have been a deviant. She ruined his life.

Here's the interview where his brother talks about how she abused them:

Many of these Conversations people are unprepared to have.

Thank you for starting the convo but I don't think there is anything we can do with the R Kelly/his sister situation.

If you or anyone else reading this knows of a way we can help other young black boys that are victims of sexual assaults please let me know. We should take steps to stop generational trauma in our community. Like you said hurt people hurt people and if we can focus on stopping the cycle instead of focusing on us when its time for the punishment I and I'm sure other people on here would be willing to help. If its a way for these young boys can talk to someone like a hotline or if something like that exists we can help make sure that these victims know this measure exists to help them recover properly.

You shouldn't have made this a gender thing cuz it's R Kelly man. World famous R&B singer who everyone knew and saw go after underage girls since the late 80s. Dude is just now paying for his crimes because he was rich and famous for decades. He got to enjoy his prime as a free man, doing his dirt, traveling the world, etc. I'm sure his sister had a mediocre life. No one really feeling sorry for R Kelly after hearing all the stuff he did. Most people only going this hard to sympathize with him because he can sing and write classic music. It's like with MJ - cats only thought he was still cool cuz he was the greatest pop singer on earth. If he was a stocker at Walmart, everyone woulda said off with his head after the first pedo allegations.
