Mans prob drove the baggage cart in front instead of behind the planeIt's a push back/tow to the taxi way.
Dude was obviously where he shouldn't have been.
There's about 5 mins of checklists and flight control checks before taxi.
Dude must have been 10 feet in front of the nacelle.
I used to be apart of ground staff doin marshalling. Only time it was possible to get ingested into an engine was when a plane was pullin into the gate and we had to chalk the wheels.
During pushback when the plane is positioned for taxi and the tug is ready to detach, the marshaller is nearby the nosewheel..so its impossible to.
He's not getting sucked in at idle...and I couldn't see why somebody would approach a moving jet at taxi power.
I also thought that chalks only go under once engine shutdown occurs and APU (s) are running.
Maybe Breh was trying to hurt himself.

OMG. That's a horrible, awful way to die. Can you imagine the people who witnessed it

There is a video from the 90s of this same thing happening (they used to play it all the time on those "shocking video" shows). If there was video back then, I'm sure there is video now...

It's quite possible there's security footage somewhere of this incident, that may be true... BUT i havent seen it.![]()
Interesting. I'm about to Google those engines.Yup chalks went in when engines were idling down after parking break is set…
Seeing some of the mammoth engines (Ie. GE-90’s on the 777’s) up close dwindling down was scary.![]()

Well I told the story in the other thread but basically it was my first day, I was 17 so it was my first real job. I was told to drive out on runway when our flights land and lay out the big chalks behind the wheels so the plane won’t roll backwards. Sounds simple..
So I drove my tug out, and when the plane stopped I parked towards the front of the wing. A older sista who saw me park must have raced over because she tackled me after I took two steps and yelled at me never ever in any circumstances do you walk in front of a running engine.

Why not?You better not.
