This is the crux of the issue and the ideological divergence of King and X. It also shows the the incongruent nature of Islam and Christianity. As I've said in another post..



Malcolm X was operating in the real world. King was operating according to his faith which is incongruent with the world we live in today.

And I don't know if the two ideologies can be reconciled but we need both.

As a Christian, I view King's approach as the right and ultimate approach. But we also need an approach that is more in touch with society, with the people which X had.

I think King and other Civil Rights leaders understood this which is why they wouldn't have completely discredited X nor any other militant leaders but also didn't know how to reconcile the opposing ideologies.

There were multiple organizations and factions fighting against legal/social discrimination and racial terrorism. Only the mainstream white media viewed MLK as the singular "leader. Dr. King knew that there were other leaders and voices espousing different approaches than his. Even the younger members of his organizations/umbrella branched off and had different approaches.

I think Dr. King felt that his way was the correct path, but that there was need and space for other ideologies. I'm not sure they could ever be reconciled either. I'm also not sure that they would need to be.

The existence, and Black support of the more radical groups actually benefited King. He became viewed as a safer/more practical leader to deal with for the establishment.

Anyways, I know that folks take stuff as gospel when it is negative, but as a person that has read alot of books about Dr. King and immersed himself in the history of the man, there is alot of misconceptions about him. The man didn't die a thousand years ago, his kids are still around, his inner circle was around until the last 15-20 years ago. People just run with the narratives. No living person is a bigger expert on Dr. King than Bernice King and they just ignore her. She been said that quote was false.

Which chapter of the AutoBio makes reference to Malcolm being an escort? There are passages about him being a steerer for the sex trade in New York. Driving clients to and from places where the activity happened. And there are passages about Rudy, in Boston, member of his burglary ring , engaging in weirdo activity for pay with old rich men.
I don't remember anything implying it about Malcolm.

Now, Manning Marable's book threw that speculation out there decades later, but I don't recall it in Haley's book.

Yeah, I read somewhere shorty didn’t like how he was portrayed in the movie. The book was to clear his name and he said some things about Malcolm. I may have mixed it up though.

I remember reading a story about Malcolm’s interview with Playboy and Malcolm was telling white America how it is and how they were and he was telling the interviewer that he wouldn’t have the heart to print his words unedited and the interviewer did just that and when Malcolm read over the interview he was impressed
