At the end of the day, the principal probably wanted all of the black students to be at higher level. It didn’t matter if 10 had a 3.5 or half for that matter. White people will still stereotype. Thats how the world works.

She gave all of them a dose of really. Especially with how they have been sensationalizing and politicizing DEI. Even the student with the 3.5 is affected by their counterparts with lower GPA’s.

I mean, she could've thanked them and gotten the same result.

America doesn't want black principals in public schools. Let a white principal be in charge when the rating goes from a C to a B they would've given them an award and a raise.
Man yall speak too quickly without knowing facts. She did get an award. She got principal of the year last year :laff:

This is one of those situations where'd id want to see her husband (to see if hes black) and to have heard audio from the meeting. It could've very well been some c00n shyt or it could've been her knowing our economic standing and just lighting a fire under them with good intentions.

Pretty much… There is a lot left out of the article. Not even a statement from the principal

Stop it. As a breh who was the high achieving student and now one of the high achieving adults we need to stop lumping every black kid in with the folks at the bottom of the ladder. There is a collective responsibility to uplift our people yes but punishing high achievers and making them feel like no matter what they do they are still represented by the lowest achievers is ridiculous. No other group does this. What this teaches is learned helplessness. "Oh so I could have a 4.0 and go to Harvard and get an MD but I'm still considered a failure because Trevon i went to school with couldn't get his shyt together" why try then? :childplease:
The importance is ensure the high achievers understand the systemic reasons the low achievers are low achievers so the high achievers can once, they elevate to a position of power, help remove some of the glass ceilings preventing low achievers with potential from performing up to that potential. Lumping high achievers in with low achievers and putting their faults on the high achievers creates a glass ceiling on them which is backwards and unfair.

just gonna say, the public high school in my hometown is a highly rated school in the state. the town itself is located literally right next to the west side of chicago. quite naturally, with the state of the chicago public school systems, many black west side families use in town addresses to get their kids into the suburban school district. obviously, their performances are dismal compared to those who grew up in the district.

the public high school, to keep from having their ratings impacted, came up with some separate learning track where the performances of the kids are not counted into the school rating. the majority of the kids in this track are the black kids.

there have been community discussions on whether this is racist or segregationist or whatever the case may be but many of the black teachers at the high school and black families that live in the town hold the same attitudes as the principal in the op. but since the conversation can't be had without feelings being caught, the separate track seems to be the best immediate solution, since it takes a lot more resources, time and labor to try to catch students up to the common standard, especially when the student may not be in the mindset to improve for whatever the reasons may be (family dynamic, crime, environment, economics, etc).

all i know is, the conversation around black education is getting tiring. we should be beyond this at this point.

Woodrow is a weird school....at least when I was younger.

If you want a strong education, AP/IB shyt, it's pretty good. If you're a slacker, there's a lane for that as well. A tale of two schools.

It's in an older Dallas neighborhood with lots of whites that got $$$$$$ (Lakewood, M-Streets etc). These aren't the ones moving to Plano and Frisco. These are the ones that want to be in the city center and can pay for the fancy Swiss Avenue houses with the nice ol skool craftsmanship.

The homeowner parents probably pissed because the top students in that school can match anyone, including HP...but since it's not in the burbs, you gon have lots of rich kids mixed with poor kids. They probably think Woodrow is an "A" caliber school....and it is.....if you take advantage of what it has to offer.

Black principal thought she could talk sideways with the Black students and get away with it. Would make more sense to just talk to the low performance kids, regardless of race........but she was afraid to do that because she KNOWS the white kids that are struggling would have told their parents.

I get what she was trying to do. If the school was All-Black like Carter or Lincoln back in the day, she might have been able to make it work.

That shyt doesn't work in a mixed setting.

Really? The meeting is a form of punishment. These kids were pulled out of class and forced to sit in a lecture they didn't want to or need to be in for something they had no part in. That's a punishment. You can't refute any of this shyt I just said because you don't have the proper knowledge base to draw from.

You need to stop coming on here spreading ignorance. You have no idea about the topics you constantly speak about. You're the worst kind of ignorant the type that talks and thinks they know so much and offers opinions on everything while knowing so little. You're the dunning-kruger effect personified.

And btw it's not racist or any form of c00nery to want black excellence to be able to excel without being held back by others. What you preach is exactly the crab in a bucket mentality I'm talking about. Then you attempt to minimize the impact of this meeting yet it was big enough to get the principal placed on leave and for there to be a multiple page thread discussing it. You're a joke. :laff:
