A Brooklyn school backed by Jay-Z said students could graduate debt-free. Now they're buried in it.

Point went over your head. Universities give athletes full rides and even they don’t use language like ‘debt free’.

‘Graduate Debt free’ I have literally never heard that before. Now if Roc Nation didn’t advertise it like that then it’s not on them.
You college educated. You got a 40k head start figure the rest out lol

Well they werent college educated yet

I don’t see how folk can be so antagonistic towards the students. At that age financial literacy is on zero plenty of folk make mistakes

But I get it, it’s a sign of the times everyone is a mini expert ready to roast, no room for empathy.

Like everything else with Desiree Perez involved, it was a scam and full of false promises. Feel bad for the kids who were taken advantage of for PR.

I get that.

But most people at this school DID understand what they were reading. That's what I'm saying. I went online and read it myself in a few minutes and could clearly see that they're saying only the tuition was covered. For those of us that went to school, we all know tuition doesn't include health insurance, apartments and meals, lol. Most of the kids that go there and went there clearly understood that and graduated without debt.

It's the very few that didn't actually read who got caught up. One of the mothers said she didn't even bother to read what the kid was applying for, but told them to do it if it was free. So there were parents who saw Jay's name on this thing and saw "free" and just told their kids to apply. That's not them being misled, that's them not doing their due diligence.

Found what I was looking for. The original article …

The new school will begin enrolling students for the fall 2021 semester with 25% of the incoming freshmen class earning a Roc Nation Hope Scholarship that positions them to graduate with their college degree without any student debt.

Roc Nation Hope Scholarship recipients will be selected from a group of academically competitive, need-based, first-time freshmen from New York.

Hold up, stop right there. :heh: I went to school for marketing. I recieved partial scholarships. Scholarships—-or any product—- are not socialized like this. How you gon tell me what it positions me to do. Why would you want to. It opens you up for legal culpability which we’re seeing now. Again even full ride scholarships don’t say anything about debt

The only reason to explain it that way is for marketing simple and plain. ROC Nation put some extra dazzle dazzle on it and now paying for it with bad PR

That's not saying much. Running a school properly isn't easy at all. I heard some disappointing news about Lebrons attempts at this as well.

I think you absolutely need to hire very experienced people at the management level first, I bet these nikkas skip this step
Your post instantly reminded me of Dr Umar attempting to open a school :heh:
