Canada might be the worst place on earth for a millennial. You have to go to University to even have a chance at a job. Thrn when you get your degree you will compete with cheap immigrants. You pay taxes through the ass and rising. You can’t afford a home to rent or buy. You will need a spouse to even have a chance at buying a home.

Jobs are scarce. You can’t even find cashier jobs. There is no worse place than Toronto area or Vancouver area.

Suffered in 20s due to the shyt economy. Finally stabilized oneself financially in the 30s. But now housing is unreachable. This is a common millenial story I hear nowadays.

Exactly what’s happening now. Also, trying to dig out of financial holes (credit, savings) from that era. So while an individual might have stabilized in their 30s and 40s their salary is used to play catch up on retirement, savings, car payment, credit card debt acquired over the years, taxes, etc,. Plus wanting to live a little (buying clothes, shoes, eating out, vacations) now that you got some change in your pocket cause you ain’t never had shyt in your early adulthood.

I’m noticing more and more 20 somethings and even 30 somethings living at home because they can’t afford to rent or own anything solo. With that being said you would think marriage would be on the rise so folks can build but it’s the exact opposite. Which is a different conversation. Shyt is real out here and it’s not gonna get better. The cats outta the bag now. Corporations know that they can charge exorbitant prices while paying shyt wages because there’s no regulations. Meanwhile the average American idiot who’s struggling vote against their own interests and point the finger at made up boogeymen.

It's caused a lot of social decay. Less romantic relationships, distance w/ friends due to depression, resentment towards parents b/c of disparity in lives.

This is reality. Hard to find a mate in this type of climate. It requires a lot of humbling on both sides.

@Wild self I'm disappointed nobody who got priced out of homeownership listening to Meet Kevin and Reventure over past 4 years has paid them a visit yet.

People are legit distracted by ratchet entertainment :coffee:

Housing is a human right. Can't be paying rent for 45 years, cause one day you are gonna get old

Facts.

The only people under 40 I know that own houses, either made $$$$$ straight out of college (petroleum/software engineers etc), had a decent amount of help from family but doesn't talk about it...or they bought way up in the deep suburbs and have to penny pinch like Scrooge.

People not also realizing that even if your able to buy a cheap house you still HAVE TO PAY PROPERTY TAXES until you die...:mjlol: whole system is a scam...
Facts.

Taxes, insurance (which can be sky high in states with lots of natural disasters like FL/TX), repairs etc., never go away. Buying a home is generally the best call for most folks unless you're disciplined with saving and investing.....but it's not as advantageous as people assume, especially if you're living hand to mouth.

Yep because if your a millennial or older gen z your parents are in their mid 50s to as high as early 70s so all you hear from them is bootstrap rhetoric and “you young folks are lazy/want stuff handed to you” propaganda.

Baby boomers are the reason we are in this mess. They got there’s. They were able to purchase a home, have a pension, quit a job and find another one the next day, save for retirement. Gen x got a taste of it too but as they got older they started turning into their boomer parents pulling the ladder up behind them. Both groups bled the system dry living life high off the hog and now millennials and gen z are living off the gristle.

Shyt gen x was supposed to be the generation that peeped game and change the way America is (rage against the machine, occupy Wall Street for example). We see how that went. They’re on that bootstrap rhetoric as well.

A lot of millennials and older gen z’s prime young earning years were shyt due to the garbage economy starting around 2007. Jobs were paying shyt (and still are) or just outright weren’t hiring/laying off.

So buying 10, 20 years ago just wasn’t possible for a lot of folks. I have a great paying job now but i remember getting out of the Marines in 06 and spending majority of my 20’s and early 30’s either on unemployment from getting laid off or struggling to make ends meet. Gen X was the last generation that could actually have something for themselves
:mjcry: my 20s didnt start until 28 and I just turned 35. The economy went to hell mid college, and every company wanted 3 years of experience for entry jobs or unpaid work lmao. I had to work 2 jobs to cover college loans and once a day...the dollar menu stopped being a thing. I was operating on 3 hrs of sleep a day, working over 16 hrs a day, to the point where I can't account for months at a time. I was in a fog for 5 year straight until I could afford to get a stable job.

I'm great now but the housing market is shyt:mjlol:I'm more educated and make more money than my parents did at their age yet I'm at least a decade behind them every way. I was even able to achieve an 800 credit and that means almost nothing:dead:
