Jordan definitely relied on his athleticism a lot more when he was younger and the Pistons took advantage. When he developed a more consistent jump shooting game, it was a wrap. And Scottie Pippen turning into an elite player didn't hurt.

looking at that clip... detroit was just playing sound elite defense.

in other words, people make a big deal about them being physical as in paying 'dirty'... and sure, they've had their highlight moments... but notice that the big men were jumping with their hands straight up in just about every clip. They weren't close-lining him on some kurt rambis shyt everytime but more so doing what tim duncan would later make a great (and smart) defensive career out of.

Or on those plays where Isiah went at jordan in the air... zeke was actually getting both hands on the basketball.. that one famous attempt would probably be over the back but even then, that was a lotta basketball he got.. and the other ones looked pretty clean as well. Really, i consider that more not-giving-a-fukk (to go straight for -and get- the ball from Jordan) than dirty or malicious.

And i see joe dumars, rodman and salley flopping out there back in '89.

Really, Rodman was the only one who seemed a lil sketchy in this particular video... with how he kinda threw MJ down at the end of that one play (rodman's teammates again had a genuine contest) or how he was flopping to the ground and getting his legs tangled with MJ.

Everything else just seemed like the pistons weren't content to just stand around and watch in 'awe' of jordan when he went to the basket. Rather, they legitmately contested, went for the jump balls, and swarmed him in the paint (and rotated well when jordan did dump it off to a semi-open big man). Great vid

I would actually like to see if a team could reenact this defense against a top player. Teams today are afraid to send two players at a guy. shyt would be interesting.
DID YOU NOT SEE THE "LEBRON RULES" IN THE LAST FINALS?
LET THE BEST PLAYER IN THE GAME TAKE WIDE OPEN SHOTS...
THEN GUARD HIM WITH AN OVERWEIGHT CENTER
WHO FORCED HIM TO GO 2/18 FROM THE FIELD WHEN HE COVERED HIM.

CANT WAIT TO SEE THE DOCUMENTARY ON THAT...

THE PISTONS CREATED THE FILM BREAUGH...
OF COURSE THEY ONLY SHOWED THE CLEAN PLAYS IN THIS,
AND MADE IT LOOK LIKE ALL SOUND DEFENSE.
LOL...THEY LOOPED THE SAME HIGHLIGHTS ABOUT 5 TIMES IN 12 MINUTES.

This why MJ is unquestionably the goat. The stats speak for themselves but he was so good it took all of this to contain him.

They said he was averaging 30 something points in those playoffs. Got Damn!
That's why I don't like when they compare LeBron to MJ. Bron is Magic 2.0. People act like Magic doesn't have 5 rings. :wtf: LeBron's style of play is nothing like Jordan's. MJ wants to body you, bring you back to life and then body you again.

I CANT WAIT TO SEE HOW HE OVERCAME "THE LEBRON RULES" IN DOCUMENTARY FORM.

I MEAN WHAT OTHER PLAYER IN HISTORY COULD OVERCOME OPEN SHOTS
