4th Reich Kratos looks like trash and i hear youre stuck with that kid the entire fukkin game :camby:

Combat appears to be a step back. Looks like it takes absolutely NO skill. Theyre going with presentation over gameplay.

It's going to be stunningly beautiful. Have a great story. Epic giant boss battles. Solid to above average combat. Maybe even great combat if we're lucky.

It is what it is :manny:

I'm in :jawalrus:

Lol what? The combat in Gow3 was not skill based at all. It was always square square triangle rinse repeat.

The footage we saw at E3 looked exactly the same in terms of combos. Kratos did a 3 hit combo and then the enemy was downed and then the circle button prompt came up. In God of War 3 same thing happens. 3 hit combo or so and then the enemy is downed and you grab them to rip them apart.

Dudes in here got some rose colored memory cuz God of War games was always flashy and spectacle. The combat was never as good as Japanese hack and slash games(DMC, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden etc.)

I don't get the comparison here. What's supposed to be the point being made?:skip:
It seems self evident to me. You get long exposition, slow walking and talking scenes, and "emotional" appeals with the new Kratos. While the old one is about ripping nikkas in half and raping gods :takedat:.

Found this interview from the game director which may explain the motivation for the new direction.

When Cory Barlog was still in early discussions with Sony to work on a new God of War game, he went through a major personal transformation: he became a father. Barlog was the director of the second game in the series, but had moved on after leaving God of War III eight months into its development, working on projects like Tomb Raider and a Mad Max game. He had a few ideas about what to do with a new God of War, but it was only after having his son that he was convinced that he had another story to tell in this universe.

"That really started germinating all of the ideas in my head," he says. "I see the world through a different lens now."

Making Kratos a soft ass dude with fatherly love and parental responsibilities and shyt. :francis: Too bad this dude ain't sterile :scust:

He also said that if you think this Gow won't have crazy fights and scenes then you're going to be surprised. He said he merely showed this part of the game which is in the beginning because they already mastered the crazy shyt and wanted to show what's new.

and Ascension was boring as shyt.

Y'all dudes want to play old God of War, then go play that. I actually yawned and rolled my eyes playing God of War Ascension. I got 3 remastered and I never bothered to pop it in. Those games are just boring as hell to play.

The combos are the same, no skill involved. Of course the hardest difficulty mode will be challenging. UC4 on Crushing can be challenging, doesn't mean it's fun as hell to play. :manny:

After playing Bayonetta 2, I couldn't be bothered to play another God of War game. That game was too damn good. Y'all gotta cop a Wii U or rent it or something..

Y'all think y'all want God of War but it's hard to play God of War after playing Bayonetta 2.
This new change made me interested again in God of War. Prior to E3 I was always saying how uninterested I was in God of War.

Yea right nikka. You buying God of Nazis day one then you're gonna complain your way through it.

You just exposed yourself. Admitted your idea of fun is casual gameplay.

-The axe has really amazing complex combos connecting the throwing and the recovering of it: You hit an enemy with the axe or other weapon, you throw your axe on the enemy (you can probably continue punching him or beating him with another weapon) then you jump, and instantly call your axe midair and beat him or finish him from the airs.

While the E3 demo was a quieter, more character-driven look at the game, Barlog assured me that the series isn’t shrugging off its bombastic, cinematic roots. The reason they didn’t focus the E3 demo on a huge, spectacle-filled set piece is that it's a given that the game will have those. Barlog and Sony Santa Monica have mastered those moments, so with this demo, they wanted to surprise fans and non-fans of the series with the unexpected.
If you're judging the entire game based off a 10 minute opening video, you're jumping to record speed conclusions. Until the game is out and we beat it and confirm the game is mostly exploration/walk and talk with little stand out moments then it's way too early to start worrying.
