A credit card should not be used for emergencies. It's a trap to stay in debt.

Credit cards (with rewards) are a life cheat code if you use them like a debit card, meaning you only swipe if you have the cash/funds in your bank account to pay it off right then and there.

Never carry a balance, always pay it off at the end of the month, and you'll get cash back/gifts and raise your credit so you can get the best rates when it comes time to get a mortgage, refinance, or get a car loan.

Just have to have some discipline and treat it the same way you use your debit card. Don't buy shyt that you couldn't buy with your debit card.

I opened a new card in March just for the $200 signup bonus. I used the card just for groceries that I as already going to buy, paid it off right then and there, and then put the card away. Free $200:yeshrug:

This whole post. Was gonna bold certain sentences but whole shyt on point.

I have one credit card that I use for everything. I pay it off immediately. Credit score in the 800s.

Your only problem would be your credit ceiling if you wanted to walk in to a Jaguar dealership to ask about leather seat color options. You’re probably not trying to do that though, so good on you for hitting the 800’s. I’m at the 700’s but that’s because I have close to $80k in available cc room and a high balance of student loan debt (which is low interest and I don’t care to pay off).

Nah. Because if you're actually using that for an EMERGENCY, then it's not gonna drag you down. If you're using it like you don't have to pay it back, then you're gonna end up with mad interest and won't be able to use it in an actual emergency.
A lot of people don't have their self-control though
