A former sales engineer was laid off from his six figure job. Now he works an entry-level job for $52,000 a year. The pay cut has left him struggling.

If he insists on paying for kids weddings and schools, he will never retire...

Exactly

Tell them kids to go trade school or community college and work as teenagers..

Then he talk about me and the wife don’t travel anymore… ok…. How about hop in your car and drive out of state for some time to vacation

He would rather keep up appearances and spoil his kids rather than face reality. If he raised them right, they won't care that he can't pay their way anymore and would insist on not taking his money. Cac's gonna CAC

U can survive off $52,000 a year

You have to change your lifestyle and spending habits and focus on the necessities

Your daughter can go down to the courthouse and get married and then she can take a trip elsewhere for a honeymoon

Reading this dude complaint , he lives his life to compete with bob and Susan and his peers

I get it, but in all fairness to the fat guy, his base pay alone was 148k. That doesn’t include commission or yearly bonus. 52k is nothing to him.

However, he’s fortunate to have something right now. He just needs to continue working this job in the meantime and work on his appearance, networking, and interview skills.

Also

With trump tariffs more jobs are on the chopping block, so be fukking happy u got a decent job now

But look at these 2 key sentences

The majority of the people I work with are fresh out of college. When I sit with them in the common room, they're like, "This is my first big boy job fresh out of college," and I'm sitting here, almost 50 years old, with a child about to go to college.:stopitslime:

We've had to cancel a lot of services. Typically, we could hire somebody to do some of the bigger things, but now I have to do them on the weekend.:francis:

He thinks he’s better than the people he working with now and he supposed to be next to Jerry Jones or Robert Kraft not on the field with the players

Then he says” him and his wife had to cut services “ oh well bytch, stop being lazy and u and your wife cut the grass, rake the leaves, do your laundry

I have no sorrow for people like this who think they are above of where they are at now

Same thing that I said in that thread about tech layoffs, you can't expect anybody to feel sorry for y'all when you guys had a chance to save money.

Especially how they were bragging about working 2 or 3 mid to high 6 figure a year jobs FROM HOME at the exact same time just a few years ago. All these people should have close to 7 figures saved up by this point. Mufukkas making all that money still living paycheck to paycheck.

I wonder where he lives but I feel like something is missing here. It's one thing to take a job one or two steps down the ladder but to have to jump into something entry level. He could have gone into outside sales which yes you have to drive around and can be lucrative, sales depending on the product is on the upswing.

But I will say this it's not easy when your salary is cut back 50-60 percent. You can burn through your savings very quickly.

Not that easy, a lot of companies expect you to be somewhat familiar with the industry

yeah, but they will teach u that. my brother in law went from selling radio ads to selling ads on a spanish speaking television channel, to selling gutters, and now selling windows and doors. they teach u the industry each time. if you can sell, u can sell.

Or the kids can go to community college for 2 years and transfer.

SOME will teach you that. If we are talking about the realm of IT then many companies will tell you in the interview (and I know from experience) they expect you to hit the ground running and knowing the ins and outs/terminology of the industry you work in.

Why are ppl happy about this? Did he vote for Trump?

If not, don't see why anyone in here is celebrating him losing his job
