It’s not even just that. Specifically it further shows they need to move off JJJ. Just a complete lack of adaptation. Your second best & all star should not look this inept. OKC defense isn’t forcing him to stand around

Brotha, it wouldn’t matter if JJJ traded out two letters to become KAJ, the holes in his game would still be exposed because Memphis wouldn’t be able to utilize him properly anyway. No different to a lot of Edey’s struggles this season being due to nobody being able to utilize him properly either.

With all that said - it’s only Game 1 and OKC hasn’t had a meal in a week, so it’s not at all surprising they came out like some ravenous hyenas, which is why you can’t really overreact to one game where Memphis’ flaws were magnified well beyond what they are normally. Memphis isn’t going to get anyone better in exchange for JJJ, so they really don’t have much choice in the matter but to play that hand they’ve been dealt for the foreseeable future.
