A lot of people forget, after Rakim and Kane, Special Ed was the next in line that people championed

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Buckshot did?
His is my favorite. Ed's 1st verse was prolly overall the best verse but his 2nd was really basic to me. "Get off my block boy or give me a dollar. For ya trouble. Or get blown up. Like a bubble..." maybe he freestyles it or some shyt. Lol. But Buckshot was the most consistent on the song to me. Overall classic song and I wouldnt switch anything up tho. I'm one of the few who fukk wit this one more than The Return Of The Crooklyn Dodgers.

I agree with that but on the Return fam lol. I fuk with Return more. I thought Chubb Rock's verse was the best but OC's was my favorite.

The problem is actually simple. Special Ed peaked too early. He basically had the baton passed to him in 89-90 and even had sparked his career back up by having the best verse in Crooklyn Dodgers, but he never capitalized off of it, fast forward a few years and now he's pushing 30 he's no longer a boy wonder and his skills fell off the face of the earth.

Special Ed was nice. Witty, charismatic, great internal rhyme schemes. Cuz he was so young it was thought he would only get better with time and had mad potential.

BUT he was not ever in the elite class of Ra, KRS, G Rap and Kane. I remember that time in Hip Hop extremely well. Slick Rick dropped a classic the year before. EPMD was making noise. NWA was blowing up major. So nah...Ed was not next after Ra and Kane. That don't mean he wasn't I'll though.

Glad someone brought this up after that Eric B interview. Special Ed was huge in my hood in Flatbush, he was close friends with my cousin, I think his friends Les and Noel are back up dancers in one of the videos you posted. I was even suppose to be in one of his videos when I was a little kid. He was that dude. He was extra nice.

My best friend older brother was also supposed to be a dancer for him but went to college instead

Them Lo Lifes...
Special Ed had a spark.

I dont think he had the impact Ra made tho.

He just happened to be a younging who got signed in high school, which added to his popularity.

I always say special Ed was jay z before jay z

I still can't figure out how or why he fell the fukk off so fast

He fell off because Gangster Rap changed the climate of things and that affected lots of rappers including Chubb Rock, Heavy D and even Big Baddy Kane.

Speaking of Kane I kinda disagree about the Special Ed/Jay Z comparison...i always pictured Jay Z as the new Kane.
