Em needs to drop another one without having to stretch some kind of "event" album out for 18 tracks, MMLP2 had about 6 or 7 tracks that woulda made a dope, concentrated EP.
Never got the point of EPS, just do a fukking mixtape.
Why? I mean I like tapes but look at G-unit and how much free music they gave nikkas over the years, these fans ain't loyal breh...if it's quality get paid for it. Tapes have their plus sides but they also played a hand in cheapening the quality of the music too.
If you rhyming over other nikkas beats just to flex then cool...but original beats/bars/songs?
Damn shame that the LP is now an afterthought.
I disagree, i'm glad they are making a resurgence.
Again, especially with Hip Hop as a genre, it doesn't take 15-16 songs to get a point or concept across and a lot of times these albums end up with filler trying to appeal to everybody.
Say somebody like Lupe wants to drop an SLR EP or suttin...that would work out a lot better than trying to put 3 or 4 of those joints on a full LP like GAYZERS mixed in with a bunch of trash, it can still be an event without having to be diluted.
And if it is gonna be an LP, make it short...10 tracks is enough majority of the time, and most EP's are about 6 or 7 tracks, that's just more quality control. Got left over gems? Record some more and drop another.
I disagree about mixtapes do nothing for established artist
You drop a mixtape to have new music to perform and hopefully a song off of it catches
Steam so the label can give you resources for a bigger project
For an up an comer planning on signing to Rape-n-You records maybe....Willie the Kid dropped a sick EP last year that I copped and still ride too, releasing it for free wouldn't have done shyt for him but lose money.
