A lot of the wealth distribution is slanted towards the medical and legal professions

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Doctors and lawyers, med school and law school. A majority of congress including Obama come from a law background. Which is why you have so many laws to ensure these professions continue to :eat: It's no wonder why law school and med school are the most expensive. Money and power, power and money.

Doctors and Lawyers make nothing compared to alot of CEO/CFO types

You have to look at the big picture. The health care industry is :eat: so is the legal system. Then you have the residuals like jails, parole officers, probation officers etc. Not saying every one is a millionaire but those two industries eat of a lot of the $$$..

And this graph proves it.

The top 1 percent professions...

I'm bringing back this old thread because I find it really interesting. The medical and legal professions are the ones *truly* eating out here. The business/banking sector is. I'm going to be a law school student soon and my success is almost guaranteed because I have a good GPA and test ridiculously high on the LSAT for a Black student, but being a CEO/CFO or a partner of a bank, that's where the real money is. The majority of lawyers are barely making middle class wage, and most have massive debt. Doctors are the ones with the guaranteed upper middle class salary, but a lot of people involved in the industries, without the more well-known roles, are really making the money.

Because the 175-180 range is almost never reached by Black students male or female. Literally maybe 3 or 4 every year. I have a projected 174-176. There's actually a website that shows chances of getting in a school, by using precious year's data. I have a 3.6 - 174 and there is 0 data, and that includes Yale, Harvard, Stanford, NYU, UC, Cornell, Duke, Columbia and UCLA.
Its not like high school where you have a few hundred Black kids getting 35s and 36s on the ACT.

Lawyers salary is overstated. There's too many damn lawyers and it's too easy to become one
That's the thing though, if you don't go to a good law school, rank highly in your class, or have connections you'll be an unemployed lawyer, or worse, a lawyer with a 50k a year job, and $130,000 in debt + living expenses. I don't plan on having debt, or having a low paying lawyer job. BigLaw is incredibly likely for me, and that starts at $160k a year + bonuses.
