This post is not to brag at all. It's about the importance of unionism.

I'm a union worker in the NYC building trades (Local 28 sheet metal workers). My total package is about $101/hr. My wages are $51/hr. In a 40 hr work week, I bring home $1500. Last year I made $111K. IN MY WAGES ONLY. I have an annuity and 2 pensions.

Be against unions, brehs.

What your neg say?

This is a quote I read from Will Durant the other day:

"Since practical ability differs from person to person, the majority of such abilities, in nearly all societies, is gathered in a minority of men. The concentration of wealth is a natural result of this concentration of ability, and regularly recurs in history."

That is basically what I mean when I say expand your knowledge base.
Getting money is a skill...A skill most people dont take time perfecting.

Unfortunately...a certain group of people want to vilify the pursuit of money...and it only hurts the poor, because they are made to think money is only made by those who are born w/ it.

another good reason to abolish unions.
There is no guarantee everyone making this amount of money is performing their job correctly.
Wages should be based on merit and not on some union BS

Is there a guarantee that people who aren't union are doing their jobs correctly? Secondly, contractors hire and fire who they want. If you aren't doing the job to a standard, you get your ass laid off. I kid you not, the owner of my company fired his own brother 2 days ago. We have no mandatory hiring hall.

Now, this is PRIVATE union here. If a contractor doesn't want to be a local 28 contractor they can leave and become non-union. . . That like never happens.

Also, you can't just abolish unions here. There is something called freedom of association.

I agree with this because you see this sentiment often about people thinking those with money were born with money as crutch to why they don't have it. I can also speak from personal experience getting money is a skill but most rather blame the lack on some outside forces. Its just more acceptable that way.

Now, I'm not lost on the fact that hiring private union for construction indeed raises the cost of construction, thus in turn raising rents for those renting office space and even renting apartments. I would argue that this rise in cost pales in comparison to the inflation created by the very banking institutions financing the construction.

I don't work for an hourly wage/salary.

Like I've said in the past unless there is an increase of wages in the lower rungs through whatever the middle class is our society will become increasingly unstable.

I dont listen to half these cornballs about anything money or career related. There's like 5,000 posters (or more) on the Coli but everyone's a baller :duck: Same dudes talking about they make six figures in one thread be in the next thread saying they won't tip the waiter five dollars. I love when nikkas expose themselves :sas1: I never care enough to call them out though. I just make a mental note to never listen to them again :sas2:
This forum is :duck: central. Over 80% of the stories I read on here especially those about money and women I just don't beleive.
