I wish they would. In all seriousness. A lot of people don't quite get how republic our republic really is. I would rather we exercise our power and show the average American just how far our system goes. If we break, then I guess we're not as good as we think we are.
Of course, it's a ridiculous long shot. It would just go to the House to vote if Trump couldn't get to 270, which at that point considering it is Republican held, Trump would probably become prez anyway. If they also had an issue and didn't get Trump in it looks like the vice-president elect becomes an interim president until all the fukkery is sorted out? Fukkery all the way down, really.
However, I still wish it would happen. It's not like Republicans haven't been full of it this whole time. They've successfully brainwashed millions of people to consider Obama a Muslim Communist Atheist Devil Fascist Hitler. Republicans wouldn't budge on the Supreme Court arguing that the people should have a say despite the fact that the people did have their say and elected Obama. Twice. And that they could wall off a Supreme Court justice nominee for 20% of Obama's 2nd term is outrageous. If we accept that then we can accept electoral fukkery.

Forget the present day f*ckery...the precedent this would set for future elections would be unbearable and would turn our already sh*tty party system upside down.
We need to be less worried about Trump and more worried about the Republican controlled government and handful of raging racists who are being groomed to eventually run on the Trump blueprint.
