So you don’t make a 125k and are only assuming that’s what you need. I’m not being antagonistic but it’s not about biggest house or car breh. You can honestly say with 6 figures you won’t travel, try new experiences, or treat yourself?

The more money you make, the more investments, the more you protect those investments. Whether that’s moving to a safe neighborhood, spending more on a dependable car. And if you’re talking about wealth building you’re gonna probably get a wealth advisor, aka more spending, which is gonna involve estate planning, brokerage accounts & risks. Then if you’re dating or starting a family that’s an increase to your CoL, unless you’re a permanent coli poster.

As someone who lives moderately and makes 6 figures, 200-250K is where wealth starts to be built where you can enjoy it before you’re 67.
He once asked "so new püssy isn't better than retirement?"

Stop giving him serious responses.

Which is why I never understand why ppl make and run with statements like these

Inflation calculators are free and take 20 seconds to use
You believe their inflation calculations or do you have the sense/awareness to look around you and come up with your calculations?

My calculation tells me 350-400k is the new 100k. We don't even gotta go back 20 years. Let's go back 5 years. Homeowner, rent food, and automobile prices have all went up 25-35%. Rent has went up double since 2020.

You can do quite a fúcking bit with a 100k salary in most of the country.

Get a little 3bd/2Bath home for ~$175,000 and put 20% down to get the monthly payments to ~$900

Get a decent car or a beater... honestly, you could splurge because 100k here leaves you with around six racks a month after taxes.

You'd be able to pay that house off in about 5 years.

Before I even read this thread:

I've never had a million dollars. It's a lot of money. For those who have had it, maybe it's not alot. It's all relative...

Ultimately the financial fulfillment in life is about what you have or what you  save, not how much you MAKE. I make a salary that's right smack in the middle of Raleigh's per capita income, and Raleigh's median household income. So my salary isn't outstanding but it's good, and I'm using Raleigh because that's where I live...

I know, and have known, people who make twice as much as I make, who have less money than I do, either in savings, investments, or disposable income. And I ain't really got shyt, to me, so imagine what I think when I been round mf's who make 2+ times what I make and they ain't got the paper I got...

Income and well-being are all relative. There are people out here, in 2024, who would call a $35,000 annual salary/income "making it", and maybe that is, relative to them. There are other people, who $150,000 they feel broke...

Given the fact that most black people aren't anything close to millionaires.....a mil is a lot of money...

His explanation isn't eloquent but, the point is $1 million isn't what it used to be.

Inflation and all that jazz.

When I was a kid (90s, 2000s), I thought a million meant you were RICH.

Now as an adult, you know its cap. You're still going to have to work having $1 million unless you're cool with living off $30,000 a year for the next 30 years.
