The only way we can see an object in our own solar system is either by observing its effect on other bodies or by its reflection of the sun. If the object is far enough it will only reflect enough light to be visible while it is closest to the sun in its orbit, at perihelion, and object that far out have orbits in the hundredth or thousands of years.
