Nah, every time he tries to elevate to the next media level with his own show on a major network, he gets brought right back down to the "urban media" level.
That's why he's been doing all the LGBTQ and mental health pandering, to try to erase the memory of all that shock jock stuff he buiilt his career on.
If it was up to Charlamagne, he would've left the Breakfast Club 5 years ago and been the male version of a host on The View. But his solo stuff just never works out so he's basically stuck.

Not naturally, but he's been trying to play the role to get out of just urban media. He's outgrown the Breakfast Club but none of them have been able to truly thrive in media solo without the show.
Problem is he has baggage and the "it" he's showing isn't natural and comes across as bad pandering to them. He's overachieved and can fool many in the urban crowd, but not the major corporations.
Basically, he sounds smart to the untrained ear. When a Dame or a Master P type show up, he can't keep up because they read right through him.
