I see a lot of "oh, our model COULD make games cheaper" but i dont see any "our model WILL make games cheaper.

Also, with regards to xbox1 technology> ps4 technology, are we really going to sit here and say that simply cause you can talk or wave at your system??? The cloud shyt will be on both consoles...if you think otherwise then you aren't using your brain correctly

So... they expect to believe that them eliminating used games is gonna make digital games cheaper?

Yeah other companies said that about music, books, and movies
Yet none of them came down in price.

All this does is give them a monopoly on the price of games and we'll rarely ever see discounts on games.

You really expect me to believe microsoft of all companies is gonna drop the price of exclusive games 6 months to a year after they've been released?
Exactly my dude...

:smh: @ any idiot that believes Microsoft is going to sell you a brand new game on release day for $35 just because its not on a disc...

You will NEVER see a console games sub $60 on release day...

The reason Steam games are cheaper has little to do with digital distribution...Even disc PC games are cheaper than console games...This is because PC gaming is a niche market unlike console gaming which is mainstream...trying to compare the two is completely asinine...

>Honestly, if you care about anything other then pure games AT ALL. Xbox 1 > PS4. If all you do is play games, and nothing else, PS4.

Or I could just buy a PS4 and a Roku for the same price, both of which are decisively less anti-consumer. :yeshrug:

i've read this babble from this MS "engineer" 3 times over now, and it's literally nothing different from what the public already perceives the XB1 already.

The ONLY difference I can see is that cheaper games are a "possibility".

Possibility =/= probability.

What a bunch of useless fukking information.

is this not what i have been saying the entire time?

no one likes DRM per se. but it is...what it is.

and just like we stop using music cd's and we're pretty much all digital now. i dont here people crying about why isnt apple making CD players vs making ipads and iphones that only play digital songs. but thats how people are. SLOW to take the next step.

all that stuff about the xbox 1 being the all in one entertainment box in homes is true. both companies have been saying this for 2 or 3 consoles. they lied every time. ps3 came with that blu-ray that pushed the envelope. then Ms came with the apps(netflix, etc ) on our console so you can watch stuff on your xbox, movies, etc. that pushed it again.

and lastly, like i've been saying every time we see these super tech movies for the past 10 years. we always say "man i wish i had that right now." well you will with xbox 1. a ton of tech. and you are crying about drm and not being able to sell used games. so the question then becomes. what do you want? that new future tech? or a game machine? if its the later. by all means get that cheaper ps4 and :eat:

but if you're a tech head and a gamer like me... xbox uno compadres.
People still want physical copies of things :leostare: CDs still exist and sell , blurays, games . Not everyone wants to install games and some people still collect the physical copies .
the question is,... which system is closed?

think about that for a moment?

the one thats pretty much just a gaming system and nothing else/

or the one that can do more?

people would like to have options ya know.

Well I want a gaming system not another iPad / computer / iPhone . I have all those already .

i'll take it a step further. is anyone paying attention to what the engineer is saying when it comes to them mimicking steam?

did yall not see the part where he says consumers aka gamers want the price tag to go down on video games. well they finally could using the logic he stated there.

its true the middle man, the B & M's (gamestop, bestbuy, etc) dont want to let go of the games. thats why they will fight it tooth and nail. cause if they go all digital. the only thing that gamestop, etc can sell is accessories. the thing is the reason these companies cant yet go 100% digital including ps4. is because gamestop more or less has told them. if you dont allow us to sell games we wont sell your accessories either. thats why the engineer said its a slow process and a juggling act.

but let me ask yall whiners this. Would you rather be able to sell used games for $5.00 to $15.00 to game stop.or would you rather pay $20.00 per every game you purchase?

lets do the math.
$60.00-current price
sale my game for $15.00.
$60-$15= $45.00 you paid for your game.

if all systems went with a digital only format similar to steam.

$35.00-new price
no resale.
you paid $35.00 for your game

its pretty obvious which way is better.

and i know someone will say but but but what if i wanted to buy a used game for cheap.

the truth is, if you can get a used game for cheap in a gamestop like store. its value has dropped since its been out for awhile(if everyone loves it and has bought it day one) or ( if no one likes it and it didnt sale that well). those two thigns will dictate the USED price right? right

well without USED games and digital only. just like you see on xbox marketplace right now. older games are a lot cheaper then they were when they first dropped.

you can drop the price of a digital game thats been out for awhile. yall do realize this right?

:snoop:

Be real, you could order the accessories on your console and have them delivered....

Change is whatever, but let steam be steam! They can still drop the prices on games if they want to.

If used games are selling for $30 then sell the digital for $35

I'm a grown ass man and all this xbox one stuff would not effect me if I got one, HOWEVER I remember being a kid and begging my mom for used games cause she damn sure was not buying them new.

The xbox one is a BIG fukk you to kid gamers and in turn their parents.

Is this the the same Microsoft whose digital marketplace sells several year old games for 39.99 and 29.99 when they can be frequently found cheaper on amazon, ebay, or shyt...gamestop?
Anyone thinking they are doing anything for consumers benefit :shaq2:

They are saviors, come to liberate us from the scourge of "scratched discs" :dahell:

go ask xbox and ps3 owners about steam and how much do they know of it. That will tell you exactly why xbox model is being criticized.

Heck i consider myself a hardcore gamer, but i have never fukked around with steam. I have it installed on my computer for reasons unknown, but i have never used it.

And m$ hasn't come out and said that xbox games that we can download would be cheaper. I'm pretty sure at launch, games will cost the same regardless if you buy retail or online. Why no price difference then? Add that to the fact that gamers can't sell their used games, plus other entertainment crap, and you have the shyt-box.

Personally, i don't give a fukk about gamestop or used game dealers, because they fukk you up big time when you resell your games. I have never sold my game to retailers. I :eat: through craigslist. I can't afford every game that comes out, well i can i just don't want to, and it takes at least 12 months before a price drop happens (this is in canada, in us i'm aware it's different). So i deal with craigslist and trade games all the time.

In fact i got Dead Space 3 for giving up GTA IV and some other game, and i recently traded for arkham city GOTY for RE6. If i had to go gamestop or bestbuy route, i would have had to pay for both of these games.

Again I have to let it be said, I'm a 360 owner.

PS4 is NOT going to a digital only format. So Microsoft is about to start selling games at 39.99 while PS4 is still selling it at 59.99?

Couple of questions:
- how long do you think it'll take before this price effect takes place?
- what events will have to take place for this price effect to actually happen?

when we get our games 100% digital. pretty much like music is today. its coming. we can fight it all we want but its coming. gamestop can fight it, but its coming.

you can still buy cds bruh..... and they still sell a good bit.

I don't see nothing wrong with having both instead of trying to force in one direction when the market isn't ready.
