There are disadvantages to growing up without a dad, but some people with dads are actually worse off than without them. Not all fathers are created equal. I'd say Lebron is doing all right.

This. I don't think the lack of a family structure has anything to do with his on court play in terms of making jump shots so there's little connection there but it probably effects him in other ways that play into decisions he makes.
If Lebron's dad was around he would have taught Lebron to have a sense of humility and gave him some support when the pressure was getting to him. Lebron probably has some sort of trust issues confiding in his close circle that he would never have with a father so I guess he bottles somethings up. Gloria doesn't seem like she could relate to everything he goes through, hardships aside, maybe she tries but she's not a man and no matter how much she loves and encourages him there are certain things she just can not speak on.
But you never know, if Lebron's dad was in the picture he might have been like Dwight Howard's dad and been someone for Lebron to hide behind for protection and would still have these shortcomings but for entirely different reasons.
IMO Lebron's on court struggles are on him and him alone, Money Mayweather spoke on this alot that even with his dad in his corner or not, his in the ring performance has nothing to do with anybody other than him.
