but nah seriously I spent the previous 20 years working in communities that I lived in…I’m in a new community now and have been quarantining so I’m not active…not sure if I intend to be…I’ve put enough effort into helping raise ppl’s kids and am finally reaching a point where I feel I should have my own to focus on and do right by

over the years tho I worked with other teachers to set up after school programs…in one instance we worked with a local church group…the goal was to teach young men how to actually be men me not the cartoon version of black men they see on TV…and teaching young black men and women proper conflict resolution and how to think/make choices in their lives…something that many ppl lack that end up affecting them as adults smh

being a teacher made it a lot easier for me to kick off these programs…and they weren’t super formal…at the end of the day it was almost like kicking it with your little cousins

There is no hard and fast rule for why a lot of these killings have happened and keep happening, but I might be in the minority here by saying that the glorification of "thug culture" is not helpful for young impressionable minds. That thug shyt is in music and shown in popular culture as being some shyt to do, but it is actually a path to self destruction. A lot of kids don't have positive role models in their lives so thugs fill that vacuum and of course thugs Worlds are filled with violence, prison, hustling and bunch of other corny ass sucker shyt but impressionable kids don't see it until it is too late.
