CHICAGO, Feb. 21—The Federal Bureau of Investigation began in late 1968 an intensive counterintelligence operation against the Black Panther Party in Chicago that included efforts “to expose, disrupt, and discredit” the black revolutionary group.

In testimony at the $47.7 million civil damage suit brought by survivors of the 1969 raid on the party's headquarters, the former head of the F.B.I.'s Chicago office confirmed that the operation had been initiated as part of the bureau's campaign to “neutralize” what it called. “black nationalist hate‐type groups.”

Marlin Johnson, now head of the Chicago Police Board but then director of the F.B.I.'s Chicago field office, identified F.B.I. memorandums that disclosed directives from the late J. Edgar Hoover ordering these actions to prevent the emergence of a black leader who could become a “black messiah” and unify black nationalist groups.

The seven survivors of the raid and the relatives of Fred Hampton and Mark Clark, leaders of the Illinois Black Panther, Party who died in the shooting, said their civil rights had been violated by a murder conspiracy and cover‐up by law enforcement officers after the raid.

In the seventh week of the trial before United States District Judge Joseph Sam Perry, Mr. Johnson was the principal witness as attorneys for the plaintiffs showed him a series of F.B.I. documents and questioned him at length about them.

In a memo, approved by Mr. Johnson, the Chicago field office reported to Mr. Hoover that an informer had been planted in the Panther headquarters and was used in “harassing and impelling the criminal activities” of the group.

But Mr. Johnson insisted that to him “impelling” meant to“curb or constrain” the Illinois Panthers. He denied, under questioning, that the informer, William O'Neal Jr., had urged members of the party to engage in criminal activity and then arranged for their arrest.

The F.B.I. documents also disclosed an attempt by the agency to create discord between the Panthers and the Black P Stone Rangers in February 1969 by sending an anonymous letter to Jeff Fort, leader of the Rangers, suggesting the Panthers were planning a “hit” against him.

I don’t. They’re missing the entire point of what you’re saying about accountability in our communities. WE have to to hold our own accountable for transgressions against our own, damn a white man’s law.

It’s ironic that the people putting that c00n jacket on folks for being truthful about this are the same ones basing the solution to our issues on white involvement or intervention. We have to remove those of us that can’t, and don’t even want to, get right before we can begin to heal our communities. These nikkas might as well be Klan members if they’re intimidating the community under the threat of violence, thieving from the people, selling hard drugs in the community, rape, pimping and hoeing, robbing or assaulting the people of the community, committing adultery (breaking up the family unit), etc.

The best thing white folks can do for us, which they won’t ever do, is to get out of our business so we handle our criminal element internally. Their injustice system will cast too wide of a net on our community like they always have and were always meant to.The ugly truth is that some of us are beyond redemption by choice and no amount of counseling, training, or education will work if it’s not valued by an individual. WE, by peaceful intervention or by violence if necessary, have to shed some dead weight to save the ship from sinking for those want of us that want to be an upright people, like our elders, again.

So what's the motive for most of these homicides?

Are they doing it for money because they're broke? People putting out hits? Gang shyt? Clout? Listening to too much rap? Mudering over females? IMO the only way to solve the issue is to find out what's motivating people to kill each other.

I agree with all of that. I got the fukk out of Little Rock as soon as I could. That last bar is out of line though because God already said why.

I honestly can’t believe that the lyrics haven’t improved after all this time. Even most hip hop imagery is all materialism and showing off jewelry and stacks of money. It’s the only genre that does that. R&B videos and lyrics don’t have all that stuff, so it’s not just about black music, it’s this particular genre.

Contemporary R&B isn’t too much better with its sexually deviant slant either. Lust and adultery aren’t helping build families. As a matter of fact, decisions made out of lust has put a lot of Black men and women in the dirt.
