James McBride is the dude who wrote Miracle at St. Anna and while the movie wasn’t great it put the spotlight on black WW II soldiers, so I wouldn’t be so quick to label him as a sellout.

Having said that, I don’t like the comedic tone of the trailer. Besides them making up the Onion character they’re portraying John Brown as this crazy lunatic which is how the South tried to portray him.

My mom and I had huge debates about how Hollywood portrays us by making up fictional characters.. mainly around the Harriet Tubman movie. Her usual response is that certain things didn't happen it Tubman's story but it did happen so it's okay to put in the movie :unimpressed:

So I sent her this story as further proof and this is the response I get back:

"What's the story line? Is the character dressed as girl for safety to keep from being caught and stay alive or are they just using the gay narrative? To me that makes a difference. Even though it may be fictional I am sure there were instances a person disguised their appearance to keep alive!!!"

:snoop: Love my mom, but we can't rely on black folks of a certain age to be the voice on these matters. Unfortunately those are the people who have the money and resources to tell our story's at moment. So we'll have to put up with such things. Until the next generation is in control of our narrative.

your mom sounds like the typical church going black woman. They are blind. It forces them to take possession over their own lives and realize god doesn’t control every aspect of humankind.

Yea the portrayal of Jon Brown is even ridiculous. He is one of few real allies. A real one, but They say he actually had a calmmer demeanor and it’s a avid attempt to overly masculate him to make the little black boy look feminine to a incredible extreme. They present him as a God-like figure. Like everybody already said. The most alarming is the fact that the black boy is really there to provide a sense of sexual relief to the white viewer (as you can see in the promo imagery) so the images of killing whites does not look too extreme. Hyper-sexualization of the black body gives them comfort.

I read a little bit on the novel the show is based on and the Onion character, comedic tone and over the top depiction of John Brown all comes from McBride. Again I don’t like the tone and artistic license from the trailer but I’m willing to at least watch an episode before completely calling this c00n shyt since I respect what McBride did with Miracle at St Anna

I honestly believe I will make billions because of this blatant agenda. I was shocked to raise half a million in just 3 weeks, but in all honesty, i could have easily did a couple million then if i wanted to give up the capital.

Now? Once the short of black sands comes out and Ausar acts like an alpha black male with no chill, i will challenge my audience to either support this masculine hero or support hollywood's fictional and demonized "historical" blacks in their films.
