Do yo think it’s some shyt in this thread that producers are unaware of or some shyt lol. All genres and styles of music have been dug the fukk through and all the gold has been taken. If it was real value in sampling folk music, it would already be a thing. Producers like alchemist and madlib have heard old folk music. Like I said, while you can pull up many examples, it’s a reason why rap producers typically don’t sample folk music. Sonically, producers simply don’t prefer it. No lush melodies, no baselines, and a lot of minimalistic elements to the music. Those are not elements you looking for when sampling music
I could see sampling vocals but yeah the instrumentation leaves little to build off, Dilla coulda done it though, he turned this unlistenable white child groomers picnic into a masterpiece.
