I'm a YouTuber, so I have a unique perspective on this.
I'll say this upfront-- I make BANK on YouTube. Otherwise, I don't think I'd upload as regularly as I do. I've already posted what I make in a month on this site twice, so I don't need to do it again. But let's just say:
That being said, everyone is different. Subject matter and a variety of other factors matter when it comes to making money on the internet. For YouTube, we are subject to a Cost Per Mille system, or a dollar amount for every 1000 views. I imagine IG and TikTok have similar systems.
If you are the only fish in the pond AND you're getting a lot of eyeballs, your CPM will be very high. I see law-centered YouTubers make a GANG of cash, because they're rare on the platform, so they're getting all the advertisers to bid on their videos, thus increasing their CPM. So it's not necessarily about getting a MILLION views to make money, as money can be made simply by doing something no one else is doing.
I am in a similar position, where I make certain videos that other people can't replicate or fukk with in terms of quality and my humor. My Coming To America video, for example "only" has 120k views currently. But the CPM on that video is SKY FUKKING HIGH, at nearly $40.
Quick math: what is 40 x 120?
That's for a single video.
Before I was able to post on this site, I would see you guys talk about how much YouTubers make, and I had to laugh because you guys were sooooo off. I see similar posts here in this thread, where people assume YouTubers not really cashing in. What y'all don't understand is how powerful having an audience actually is. Once you have a legitimate hardcore fanbase, you will always have supporters on other platforms that you choose to engage with, such as Patreon, Only Fans, etc. This is why every thot e-girl on Twitch has an Onlyfans.
I never got into the Instagram game, so I don't really know what they make. My IG has 80k followers, and I don't see pretty much anything from my IG, but then again, I don't post anywhere near as often as these people do.
