The notion about slavery ending by itself just gives the whole game away. What then is his analysis of the Jim Crow era, why was there such a visceral reaction to the post slavery era that sought to replicate the core elements of white supremacy. As usual the federal government is the center of all their problems, conservatives pushed the whole free market greed is good mentality during the Reagan era, I bet many voters saw themselves eventually being rich but misunderstood that they were not competitive enough for the new economy. Once minds are set there is very little that can be done to change them, Peter's worldview is typical Republican free market stuff i.e. unions are bad they are harassing Walmart and taxes are too high even though its unlikely his county carried a high tax burden. The blurb about race underpins why it is difficult to change minds, Van Jones went to talk to the coal miner who confronted Hillary about coal and asked him if he would have voted differently without the coal incident and he said no he is pro life and resents being seen as a one issue voter.

alot of these trump voters deserve that hate tho. this man told you to your face what he was gonna do. but ran on a platform of pure hate and you thought doing a deal for a literal orange devil was a good idea?!!?

You might get some jobs back but at what cost?!!? is the cost that everyone suffers to bring jobs back because you voted the 4th reich into office under the guise of economic anxiety?!!?
