Fukk your corny debates
I was just thinking, when this came out every serious hip-hop head was praising it.
It was a brilliant album. It was up there with any Native Tongues album. They were probably the most relatable group out of that camp. The album was crass, tongue-in-cheek immature, and blatantly misogynistic yet very intelligent and self-aware. It even had its profound, socially conscious moments like Black with N.V. It was cohesive from beginning to end. And it produced an all time great single that still gets club play and was featured on a commercial over 20 years later (The Choice Is Yours remix).
They never lived up to the promise of their first album. They dropped a follow up years later that was meh then they disappeared. That's probably part of why AWISC seems to rarely come up when people talk about all time great albums. But 1991 was one of the best years ever in hip-hop and it was right up there in the discussion as best album of the year.

loose. And it still sounded cohesive
