Of course you can be socially conditioned, particularly in a hyper-patriarchal society, to find sexual assault more acceptable.
That doesn't make these men "normal" or "ordinary." It just means they can talk themselves out of the guilt of violating and traumatizing a woman for the rest of her life.
I hope they all rot in jail.

He expressed remorse for raping a five-year-old girl. “He said ‘yes I feel bad, I ruined her life.’ Now she is no longer a virgin, no one would marry her. Then he said, ‘I would accept her, I will marry her when I come out of jail.

Absolutely disgusting. He needs a .45 to the back of his head when he comes out of jail, which he never should.

It's not that they are "normal" it's that rape and sexualized violence against women is NORMAL or at least normalized. I don't think rapists and molestors are monsters and the more and more we try to treat them like that the more people are going to get hurt IMO. That's not to say encourage or pardon people but someone on the outside of the scenario needs to take an objective approach about how to quell this shyt...and prison obviously isn't the answer. It's something wrong with the CULTURE, which is what she was getting at in a round about way. The fact that the one of the few rapists who was remorseful was more worried about ruining her religious virtue and even offering to marry her once he got out shows you what kind of emotional baseline is breeding this shyt.

I don't think there are many natural born rapists around.

No man look at the numbers
The U.S has an INSANE amount of rape.
Highest rape per capita

The numbers are totally meaningless because rape is defined differently, reported differently, and subject to different opportunity levels in every country.

In the United States you have date rape, you have rape where someone was too intoxicated to give consent, rape where someone was too young to give consent, marital rape, etc. One or all of those types of rape are either rarely reported or even legal in many countries, and thus some of them happen often without ever showing up as a statistic.

Child abuse is one of the worst ones. There are studies that put the frequency of kids abused at 40-50% or higher in some nations, even though by official statistics those nations have almost zero cases reported. That's because there is a culture in those places of never, ever reporting family members for crimes, even when they do hideous things. As well as some extreme views of patriarchy which pretty much excuse almost anything a man can do.

Then go outside the family, and realize that politicians get away with the same. School leaders get away with the same. Police get away with the same. Religious authorities get away with the same. If you are wealthy, you have power, and you get away with the same.

As a result, you don't have a clue what the actual rape statistics are. I had a woman tell me that on a certain holiday in her country, the men all got wasted and every girl she knew in her village, literally EVERY girl, would be sexually assaulted by someone before the holiday was over, groped against her will at the very least. In the USA probably 1/3 of those would be reported and add to the statistics. Where she lived? Never, ever reported by anyone.

Then on top of that you have to factor in opportunity. Let's say you live in a country/culture where women are never, ever allowed to go outside the house, or party, or drink, or be with an unrelated male under any circumstances. Sure, there might be fewer total rapes than there are at a college frat where parties and drunkenness and women are out wherever they want to be whenever they want to be. But if a woman knows that if she were to walk out alone at night, or get caught alone in a crowd of unknown men, or go to a place where men were drinking, that there was a 50-50 chance she'd get sexually assaulted, and the only reason that doesn't happen more often is because she literally is never alone....does that make it less of a rape culture or more of a rape culture?
