i get it, but i can't have Brees ahead of Rodgers. just can't. Rodgers is a better QB.

I understand, to me, its debatable. The Brees/Rodgers thing is super close to me, and the question I'd ask you is, what year did Rodgers pass Brees, and how and why?

Because when you look at the arc of the 13-year overlap between Rodgers and Brees, this is what I tell people when asking them to consider when Rodgers surpassed Brees:

•it wasn't in Rodgers' realistic rookie year, 2008, when Y7 Brees became the second 5000 yard passer, first since '84 Marino, and won OPOY...

•it wasn't in '09, when Y8 Brees was an MVP candidate and was SBMVP...

•the earliest a Rodgers/Brees comparison was entertained was in '11 when the MVP race went down to the wire between the two. Brees was in Y10, Rodgers in Y4, at best at this point you could argue they were equals but Rodgers wasn't accomplished enough to skip over a guy who just had his second 5000 yard year...

I can entertain the notion Rodgers is higher than Brees All-Time considering the 2012-16 window where Rodgers played thru several injuries, made the playoffs 5 straight years, won 4 division titles, and went back to two NFC title games; while he was doing this Brees had four losing seasons, one playoff appearance, and no division titles, while playing with certainly the better coach and scheme and probably the better aggregate of offensive talent...

That's the window, somewhere in there, that he probably leaped Brees. I got Rodgers maybe a spot ahead of Brees, but it isnt by much. Both have largely underachieved in the postseason but Rodgers being able to do more with less and having an offensive schene not perfectly tailored to him is the tip, but the gap between the two isn't great and has never been great...

Brady gotta be the first QB in history where we just gloss over 3 picks. The Bucs were about to roll these dudes and he single handedly opened the door. I am not gonna give him extra credit because he defense held him down. Dude was straight throwing Favre YOLO balls and we calling that aggressive?

I've asked others, what were the instances where he wasn't aggressive enough and how did they negatively affect the team? From where I sit, his aggressiveness on the pick before the half played a big part in them losing the game.

We're not glossing over the three picks, they happened...

Rodgers not running on that 3rd down and not waving off the field goal unit on 4th are glaring examples of passivity. There were a number of examples that showed non-aggression, but those two examples i don't even have to explain to you how they negatively impacted his team. He stands in stark contrast to Brady, who told Arians before half we aren't punting, we're going for it, and forcing a throw to a double covered receiver instead of running for either a TD or a 4th and short...

Chalking it up to just being more aggressive is glossing over it. That changed a blowout into a game that came down to a late PI flag. You wanna go at Rodgers, fine. We just not about to hold up a nikka throwing YOLO picks as the example of the way to go. Throwing to a receiver that is double covered isn't exactly passive or conservative. Calling the pass on the RPO on 2nd down isn't passive. If we are being real this is just sounds like halo/horns effect and confirmation bias. By all means break the other plays out. Explain them to me.

All picks aren’t necessarily created equal, the ones that Brady threw weren’t insignificant BUT, they were all deep on GBs side of the field and worked effectively as punts.

that’s why I pushed back when people tried to get on Rodgers about not scoring off of those picks
While working out I heard them say Rodgers was 4-11 in the 4th quarter .... N that’s with 2 backup safeties out there for the Bucs :scusthov:

Bucs had like 7 drops ... one of them leading to the INT N points taken off the Board ... so a lot of this Woulda coulda shoulda shyt work both ways :manny:
had a couple more picks dropped too

If you’re a packers fan you gotta feel some type of way. In the ten years you haven’t made it back to the Super Bowl with rodgers so many teams in your own conference have seemingly come out of nowhere and won the NFC, many have beaten you straight up

2011 Giants sucked the previous season go into Lambeau and win

2016 Falcons sucked the previous 3 seasons, beat Green Bay

2019 49ers sucked the previous 4 seasons, come out of nowhere bears greenbay

2020 Bucs, sucked the previous 3 seasons, comes out of nowhere goes into Lambeau and beats greenbay.

Even teams like 2015 panthers or 2017 eagles which didn’t beat greenbay in the playoffs had these crazy turn arounds and we’re able to make the Super Bowl

This is true. A pick in the opponents redzone isn't the same as a pick in your own redzone. However a pick always a bad thing that doesn't benefit your team. Beyond that you have no control over what happens when you throw up a YOLO ball. It was possible for GB to return all of those picks for TDs. You don't get extra consideration because your offensive players stopped dudes from getting big return yardage or because your defense stepped up (enough) to prevent shyt from being as bad as it could have been.

Yeah, it’s a gut punch. McCarthy’s offense became stale after 2014 and talent was lost and the fruits of rebuilding parts of the offense only came through in last couple years with a new coach and innovative scheme.

GB lacks playmakers on defense. They were a bend but not break unit. But they didn’t make the game breaking plays you need in January.

Didn't they go a ridiculously long stretch during the season without a pick...like 4 or 5 games or some shyt?

I don't know how Pack fans were feeling but when McCarthy was fired, I thought they would go with a defensive guy. Let Aaron and whatever assistant handle the offense and bring in a head coach that would optimize the defense.
