Former President Donald Trump largely received a warm welcome at the UFC 302 fight card in Newark, NJ Saturday. But one notable attendee completely gave him the cold shoulder.
As Trump made his way to his seat cageside at the Prudential Center, he eventually passed by New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers. But Rodgers remained seated as Trump passed, and did not try to shake the former president’s hand or greet him in any way.
Rodgers, of course, was very nearly Trump’s 2024 political opponent. At a recent news conference, the Jets signal caller c laimed he considered retiring from football to become Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s running mate.
“I love Bobby,” Rodgers said on May 22. “We had a couple really nice conversations; but there were really two options. It was retire and be his VP, or keep playing — and I want to keep playing.”
In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, Rodgers criticized Trump — arguing that despite having four years in office he “didn’t drain the swamp,” as he pledged. Rodgers also questioned whether Trump “got scared about what he learned when he was in there.”
