i thought i was an ab soul fan but i cant rock with this album for some reason...i love his shyt on everybody else's projects but this left something to be desired...

Me too, I like his guest verses but the persona he's trying to established is just way too forced, and it's weird all the black hippy members and bloggers and shyt saying this is the best TDE release ever...the fukk no it's not.

maybe he really is how he comes *off* in the music, but the whole thing with him being from carson and not the ghetto like the rest of them but making up for it by being a psuedo-intellectual who raps about astral projecting and incense.

if i cared more about it I would explain further, I just like his verses on shyt like druggys wit hoes and druggys wit hoes again rather than pineal gland. maybe i worded that other post too strongly.

I don't understand what you are trying to say here though. Of course everyone isn't going to be a street cat. It's way more common than everyone from the hood being a dealer, a shooter, or some type of criminal like people would have you believe. Jay Rock and Schoolboy were in the streets while Kendrick and Ab-Soul were just running the streets and seeing shyt unfold from the sidelines and their music reflects that. Kinda like Nas I guess where they have seen stuff going down, got somewhat involved in it, and know some of the dudes that did dirt. When you listen to any type of conscious, introspective music you are going to be subjected to some opinions that seem to be 'pseudo-intelligent' idea. I have yet to hear a a conscious album that didn't contain points that were either glaringly obvious, based on conspiracies, or something that is just kinda weird. Ab-Soul seems completely genuine to me. If you watch his interviews he seems like the same dude.

I don't listen to what you're talking about, ummm like rhymsayers/def jux artists? Those are lame too.

I just got a false impression of him from the features on section 80 and H&B, no biggie it's just not my thing. He can flow with the best of them though.
